Superman 40th Anniversary 4K edition, the Spider-Verse gets bigger, final Arcade Clubs of the year and basically a lot of things for you to go see and camp out in air conditioning for a while. Here is everything happening for you across Australia for this Week in Geek.

1. Queensland

Wednesday

In Brisbane until December 22nd is the Brickman Awesome. This ever-changing travelling sideshow of LEGO awesomeness from Australia’s only LEGO Certified Master Builder is one of our favourites for the massive sets that are on display.

From Wednesday until Friday is the Switch, part escape room, part cross city scavenger hunt across Brisbane. Wrapped in mystery you use your GPS enabled phone the game is spread across 10kms as you interact with the moderator acting as the Oracle to your Batman (or team of Batman). For more details and to book tickets check out the official site FAQ.

For Foxtel subscribers, it might be the last bit of it but Wednesday is Part 3 of the DCTV crossover ‘Elseworlds’. The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl have been crossing over to bring us the first ever ‘Bat’ person into the Arrowverse – Batwoman. If you have missed out the first 2 parts, check out the Foxtel catchup app.

Thursday

It’s a big week in Cinemas this week with not one but three films you might want to put on your must-see list. Starting out with the Jennifer Garner turned Punisher, Peppermint you can follow that up with the jolly man in the red suit (Deadpool) in Once Upon a Deadpool and lastly jump Into the Spider-Verse. Check back later this week for our spoiler-free reviews (But Into the Spider-Verse was SUPER good, seriously look out for that review).

Friday

We might be running out of days in the year but there is still some good binge-worthy Sci-Fi dropping over on Netflix with Season 3 of Travelers. Season 1 and 2 of this Time Travel based series is still up on Netflix so if you haven’t seen it yet there is still a chance to catch up.

Also on Netflix a special call out for the final season of the awesomeness that is Voltron. This Dreamworks series is part of the reason we were so looking forward to the new She-Ra series (which is also great). If you haven’t seen either, cancel your weekend plans.

Also on Friday for Foxtel subscribers, you can O.D on tinsel with the Christmas Pop-Up channel this Friday. We are talking Home Alone, Love Actually, Elf, The Polar Express and of course Die Hard. But seriously folks, don’t do tinsel.

Saturday

Saturday is the last Arcade Club of the year at Brisbane‘s Netherworld and they are going with a classic, teaching you the ins and outs of the arcade game – Tapper. Like always following the free session there will be an 8 game tournament with prizes and an enamel pin for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters.

Sunday

Wrap up your Sunday and enjoy some cool AC at the Elizabeth Picture Theatre on Sunday for their flashback film programme with the first film to tie Fred Savage to a bed and tell him a story, The Princess Bride. Yes, there is also some kissing.

And lastly for your weekend, if you can’t wait for Boxing Day there are some limited previews of Wreck-It-Ralph 2 happening at the Palace Barracks Cinemas in Brisbane. There is one screening only this Friday but Sunday is your last chance, so if you want to get your Pixar on, make sure you get tickets ASAP.

2. New South Wales & ACT

Wednesday

Before we go too far, don’t forget the new Star Wars Identities Exhibition is on at the Sydney Powerhouse right now and running through to June. We will be doing a walkthrough of the exhibition soon but don’t let that stop you from getting there yourself.

And while on the Justice League, from Thursday on Madam Tussauds in Sydney is adding to the Justice League with Aquaman. If you have not been yet Madam Tussauds already has Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash from the most recent Justice League film which just leaves Cyborg for your cosplay shoots.
