Trailer drops for Bumblebee – The first post Michael Bay Transformers and… We don’t hate it

Actually to be honest it looks pretty good so far. Transformers fans have had a rocky relationship with Michael Bay. On one hand he was responsible for bringing back Autobots and Decepticons back to the big screen but on the other hand Bayformers have not exactly been a 100% faithful recreation of everybody’s favourite Robots in Disguise.

Announced two years ago at the height of our Transformers saturation point we were a little concerned. With already 5 movies under the helm of Michael Bay we weren’t sure we were emotionally ready for a 6th standalone of the re-imagined Bumblebee, but with Michael Bay stepping back from writing/directing and the latest instalment being the first in the Post-Bayformers era the latest trailer has us oddly hopeful.

While only a teaser for the film due out later this year there is a lot of things we have to say we like about it, most notable being a classic look Starscream and Bumblebee. With the new film being directed by Kubo and the Two Strings Director, Travis Knight and screenplay by Christina Hodson (who is also currently penning the Batgirl and Birds of Prey movies), the overall feel is very different to what we have seen since Transformer movies no longer had a Stan Bush soundtrack.

But enough from us you can check out the full trailer below and tell us what you think. Are you excited for more Transformer films? Do you like the classic Bumblebee and Starscream? Are you hoping this will be the start of more from the Bayformers Universe or a retcon? Let us know in the comments down below.

Bumblebee is currently due to hit Australian cinemas December 20th this year.
