SDCC has officially begun with a lot of the collectable and comic panels already happening. While the big Hall H panels are still a day or two away there is still a lot going on. You can check out our Day Zero/lead up to SDCC announcement recap with everything you needed to know but on to day one.
Movies
- The Johnny Depp Ebenezer poster announcement yesterday was followed up with a trailer
- And one we missed from yesterday’s Day Zero recap is the “Has Fallen” series continues with Apollo Has Fallen
- Giant Combs appeared for Spaceballs: The New One in Hall H with Mel Brooks and Rick Moranis (they also showed a Spaceballs Cinematic Universe slide)
- The 1985 Transformers film is returning to cinemas (we knew that already) but a remastered trailer was released for it
Television
- DC Studios Lanterns got it’s full trailer released
- Paramount+ gave us a trailer for the upcoming Avatar the last Airbender series set after Korra, Avatar: Sevan Havens coming October 9
- Disney dropped a trailer for Percy Jackson Season 3 coming to Disney+ in November
- Disney Worldbuilders is a behind the scenes docco series for Disney+ about the biggest Disney Franchises
- Adventure Time: Side Quests is getting 20 more episodes in a season two later this year
- Batman: Caped Crusader will include House of the Dragon’s Mathew Needham as the Joker
- We got a trailer for Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power Season 3 coming in September to Prime Video
- Amazon Prime also released a teaser trailer for Blade Runner 2099 a new series releasing this year
- AMC’s Interview with a Vampire spin-off (sorta) Queen of the Damned got a SDCC teaser
- Walking Dead Dead City Season 4 is waiting on renewal as the Daryl Dixon series season 4 is delayed until 2027
- LEGO teased an upcoming series of LEGO Ninjago shorts for ‘Duskfall’ in a more anime style
- X-Men 97 Season 3 is confirmed as complete and ready for release in 2027 with clips including the Brotherhood of Mutants fighting Sentinels shown during the panel.
- Adult Swim dropped a clip from the Mike Judge produced mushroom series Common Side Effects
- Knight Rider: Unclassified is a 5 part behind the scenes online documentary about the 80s TV show
Comics
- For Batman DC comics Batman of Two Worlds is main continuity Batman and Absolute Batman coming for Batman Day this year, and the next major Batman event will be Bad Seeds which clearly relates to Gotham’s new Mayor, Poison Ivy. There was also teases for Batman: Shadow of the Bat series and Christopher Cantwell may be bringing a new Gotham Central book.
- DC Next Level titles we are getting new series for Dead Shot, Etrigan, Static Vixn, and Jonah Hex, it also covered updates about Doom Patrol, Red Hood with Teen Titans, and the Legion of Superheroes
- In Marvel announcements Mary Jane is ditching the Symbiote for ‘Friendly Neighbourhood Mary Jane and Eddie is back as Venom (and there is also a Predator vs Punisher book on the way). Also ‘March to Hulk War’ is Infernal Hulk vs Spider-Man, Wolverine, Fantastic Four and the Avengers in lead up books to the event also by Phillip Kennedy Johnson.
- The Star Wars publishing panel of course announced a ton of new Star Wars novels but also a new Indiana Jones comic which will be the first time since the 80s that Indiana Jones was published by Marvel (with it being with DArk Horse for much of the 90s)
Gaming
- Ultron is being added to Marvel Rivals
- Insomniac Wolverine dropped the full 40 minute SDCC Panel online
- Another God of War game will be coming after the next Laufey game and connect directly to the story
Collectibles
- Marvel Legends toy line panel showed off coming figures including new Spider-Man symbiote, Elsa Bloodstone, a Sentinel and Doom 2099
- Hasbro’s Star Wars panel dropped a lot of Mando and Grogu new figures and black series as expected but also some new Clone Trooper helmets, the Gold face trooper helmet from Ashoka and a very cool looking Thermal Detonator
- The GI Joe team have collaborated for a Lara Croft figure currently available for preorder on Amazon too
- Both the Mattel and Hasbro SDCC Exclusive sites are now up with daily additions but if you were hoping for a Swol Skeletor that is already sold out (but keep looking)
