After the awesomeness that was Kong: Skull Island we have been waiting for more from the Legendary Monster Universe. And while Kong vs Godzilla is still aiming for a 2020 release we got the 2019 next instalment of the Godzilla storyline and it looks to make up for the lack of Godzilla’ing in the 2014 film.
We first got a Cloverfield Lane like look at the next Godzilla film during SDCC this year when a teaser was released showing Stranger Things’ Eleven/Millie Bobby Brown as the main character. While still clearly core to the film (hopefully not like Bryan Cranston was) the new trailer shows a world on the brink of extinction from a return of the Titans/Kaijus in the last Godzilla film. Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan and of course Godzilla are all show in what looks to be a monster line up (pun not intended, ok maybe a little intended).
Even with the only 8 minutes of screen time, Godzilla had in the 2014 film it was enough of a hit to greenlight a sequel past Kong. The new King of Monsters film, however, has a new director, a re-written script and if the trailer is to be believed more monster on building carnage than its predecessor.
