This week Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black, xXx Return of Xander Cage, John Wick Chapter 2) has been confirmed as being cast as TV’s new Batwoman, with her introduction to the Arrowverse schedule for The CW’s “crossover” this December.
In May The CW announced that we could soon expect an appearance from Batwoman. However, The CW has now declared that they have found the perfect woman for the job via a tweet from the official Arrow Twitter account yesterday. They shared an image of the actress alongside that of the red-haired hero she will be playing, and the caption “Ruby Rose is Batwoman, coming to The CW’s crossover event this December!”

A Tweet from the official DC Comics also welcomed Rose to the DCTV family. The out Aussie actress will be playing Kate Kane (aka Batwoman) who is a lesbian. The Arrowverse already has a number of LGBT+ characters on the roster. However, if Batwoman is picked up for a full series, not only will this add another show to the ever-growing portfolio for The CW, but will see the first openly gay female superhero lead character on TV!
You will have to wait until December for the Arrow major crossover event, but you can catch up on Arrow, and The CW’s other shows on Foxtel now.
