Event Cinemas’ In the House returns for it’s new season and running through to December changes it up from Fridays to Monday and Wednesday for screening weeks. You have already missed out on the Monday screening so Wednesday head to Amity Island with Steven Spielberg for Jaws. It’s playing at the most Event Cinemas’ ever playing at Event Cinemas in the Gold Coast‘s Pacific Fair & Southport, Cairns, Mackay, Townsville, Sunshine Coast‘s Maroochydore, Toowoomba Strand, Ipswich, plus Loganholme, Brisbane Myer, Chermside and Garden City in Brisbane (woo so many).
If you want to be a bit more literary on Wednesday Firemane series author Raymond E. Feist is stopping through Brisbane on Wednesday between Supanova Sydney last weekend and Supanova Perth this weekend. This hour long informal chat is a must for fans of his work and with only one session on Wednesday night expect tickets to go fast. UPDATE: Tickets went fast. It’s sold out.
Thursday

Brisbane‘s Netherworld goes Virtual on Thursday with Free Space VR Arcade joining them this Thursday for Beat Saber (think Lightsabers meet DDR meet Guitar Hero). Show off your skills and win free passes to the VR Arcade every hour.

Friday return to Harlem with Power Man in Luke Cage Season 2, ready for you to binge on Netflix. Following on from The Defenders with Danny Rand/Iron Fist to appear in this 13 episode season as we get more of the Heroes for Hire action we so desperately wanted.
Saturday
The Empire takes Dreamworld this weekend with the 501st Stormtroopers for one of the largest fundraising events of it’s kind for TLC for Kids – Gold Coast. If you have never been to a Star Wars weekend at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast this might be your last chance to see the power of this fully armed and operational Deathst…. er Theme Park for a good cause of course this Saturday and Sunday.
Also on Saturday but at Brisbane‘s Netherworld it is the 40th anniversary of Space Invaders this year and the perfect excuse to have Arcade Master Class on the vintage machine. As always there will be a tournament after with some sweet limited edition enamel pins up for grabs.

And if you didn’t leave Netherworld in Brisbane you might as well wrap up your Sunday there for another Sell your Soul Sunday. Every purchase, every drink comes with tokens for you to show off your gaming skills. Not in possession of a mint condition soul? It’s ok you are still welcome.

With a collection of guests from the show including Castiel/Misha Collins this is your best chance to learn all the secrets of next season before it hits.
The Australian Boardgaming Tournament continues to Canberra this Saturday and Sunday as they search for the best Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Rummikub players ahead of the Australian Championships to be held in Sydney later this year. Tickets are open now to book your place but you must book to be eligible to compete.
And finally at the Hoyts Entertainment Quarter in Sydney this weekend catch the next session of the Gfinity Elite Series with CS:GO taking centre stage. Watch the Brisbane Deceptors, Sydney Roar, Perth Ground Zero, Melbourne Avant Gaming, Sydney Chiefs and Melbourne Order as they play off for this massive Counter Strike eSports event this Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday
You don’t need us to tell you about Sydney on Sunday because you probably just got back from the Time Traveller’s World Fair happening at the Campbelltown Steam & Machinery Museum this weekend. This event bringing together Steampunk, Medieval, Modern Travellers, Future & past Time travellers is your chance to compare diaries and update yourself on the current(?) time travel rules. BYO Time Vortex, Plutonium or other Mr Fusion fuel.
3. Victoria & Tasmania
Wednesday
First up, don’t forget that Marvel Avenger STATION is still in Federation Square in Melbourne but rapidly approaching it’s end. Running through to the end of this month doesn’t leave you a lot of time for this experience that gives you the skills you need to become a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in a post Infinity War world.
If you want to head out then the Palace Cinemas in Melbourne have some Kubrick for your Wednesday night. The Palace Cinemas have limited sessions of the original 2001 playing in 70mm film, now playing only at the Astor Palace Cinema – see why the original has been described as every frame a picture before it finishes this week.

This Saturday in Hobart, Tasmania’s biggest Geek Market returns for 2018. Thanks to TasPop and AICon this one day event returns for you to get all your geek and nerd-wares and this time it is at Mathers House (Down Mathers Lane, opposite Myers) to be even more easy to get to.
With more edge than LARP’ing Abduction is the horror themed experience at the Old Geelong Gaol this Saturday and Sunday in Melbourne. Limited to just 18 people per game watch as someone is abducted and tortured in front of you before you are thrown in your own cell and given one chance to escape and reunite. This is definitely not for the faint hearted.
Also on Saturday, but back in Melbourne you can catch not one but TWO screenings of the movie with the best car chase scene in history this Saturday night with the one, the only Jake and Elwood Blues in, The Blues Brothers. Playing at 5:30 PM with another encore session later that night you really should shake a tail feather and pickup some tickets for this awesome movie at the Thornbury Picture House.

Running for Saturday and Sunday this is one of the largest cons to tour the country so you really don’t need us to tell you about it but it might be the perfect follow on with some Luke Cage S2 guests also there for you to meet on top of all the awesome vendors, cosplay and more.
Not ready to stop after Supanova does on Saturday night? Respawn is where you can head for the after con party on Saturday in Perth. Get in some late night Cosplay comps and take advantage of the free cloakroom to look after all your ‘Nova swag (just remember to keep your Supanova wristband on to score cheaper entry).
