If this week had a theme song it would be pretty easy to guess what it would be. But even if you aren’t planning on seeing Wonder Woman (more than twice) there is still plenty from Townsville MagnetiCon, to the Adelaide Ladies’ Comic club to Steampunk days.

1. Queensland

Wednesday

If you want to start your week off with some tabletop gaming you might want to drop into the Play Warehouse in Brisbane‘s south for their Wednesday night session. Final Fantasy, Force of Will and MtG Standard tournaments are on tonight as they continue with tournaments until Sunday.

GOMA in Brisbane will be playing movies from the MCU for the duration of the Marvel Exhibition and Wednesday night you can catch Iron Man followed by The Incredible Hulk. You can buy tickets online or at the GOMA ticket office on the night!

Thursday

Wonder Woman hits cinemas across Australia! That’s it, nothing else important is happening we are sure of it. Go! See it now (or on Thursday when it comes out).

Oh, someone pointed out that the Rock has a new movie out on Thursday too. Baywatch is also in all cinemas around the country… but probably the same cinemas as Wonder Woman so… y’know.

If you aren’t sure where to see Wonder Woman and you are in Brisbane and like a little pre-movie trivia can we suggest the New Farm Cinema who is having a pre-Wonder Woman free trivia before the sessions on Thursday.

Friday

Just for something a bit different in Ipswich, the Library will turn Escape Room on Friday night only. Tickets and sessions are limited as this is a one time only event, so make sure you get in for booking early.

And if you are looking for something to do in Brisbane, maybe check out Guf Games in Fortitude Valley for some Friday night Smash Bros. This isn’t just their weekly Smash Bros. Tournament, it’s their 102nd Smash Bros. Tournament! What did they do on the 100th? We dont know, you should check it out on Friday and ask them!

Saturday

Starting your Saturday in Townsville and continuing to Sunday with MagnetiCon! With Cosplay, Anime, Sci-Fi, Vendors and Special Guests, you don’t want to miss out on getting tickets!

If you are in a tinkering type of mood then get to the SLQ Edge in Brisbane for BrisMakerFest! What’s it about? Well, we can’t tell you much because it’s the first one of these ever to be held! But you can pick up tickets now and maybe find out more about what is happening in the Hackerspace scene in SEQ.

Also on Saturday in Brisbane‘s Brightside Man vs Bear Trivia is hosting the Disney Trivia night! Like all Man vs Bear events, tickets go fast so don’t delay on getting some if you are interested!

If you want to feel more like a princess of the Star Wars variety the 501st Legion of Brisbane are holding their formal attired charity ball. Tickets are $75 for the ball held at the Tattersalls Club to raise money for Act for Kids. With mouse droid races and a charity auction that night (and a parade through the Queen St mall during the day for Kidney Health Australia) you can get all your good karma for the month done in one day! Tickets are available from the website.

Lastly, if you prefer more eSports on your Saturday ESL Australia is holding the CS:GO 2017 Season Finals on Saturday and carrying over to Sunday. You can watch it online across Australia or if you are in Sydney you can pick-up tickets to watch it in person.

Sunday

Want some Mario Kart for your Sunday? Head to Brisbane‘s Netherworld with your Nintendo Switch for their Mario Kart Meetup. It is an 18+ event but younger players can attend with a guardian to play in the cups.

Following that you can stick around at Netherworld for Two-Bit cinema club as they play a double feature of The Keep + The Highlander. Lovers of Sean Connery movies featuring soundtracks by Queen clear your schedules in Brisbane.

And if you prefer more MCU for your Sunday GOMA will be playing Iron Man 2 and Thor in their cinema as part of the Marvel Exhibition. Tickets are of course available online or at the GOMA ticket office.

2. New South Wales & ACT

Wednesday

If you are closer to Canberra and just want a lazy Wednesday playing boardgames in a pub then the Pot Bell Bar is for you. They will have several games set up but if you want to make Wednesdays your new game night with friends then probably an idea to book ahead for your group.

Thursday

Is Star Trek better than Star Wars? Empire Coffee in Newcastle is turning to the Trek side on Friday night with Star Trek trivia. Much like Star Wars trivia, there are prizes to be won… but only more Star Trek’ish.

If you saw what is out in This Week in Games you probably know that Tekken 7 is released on Friday and the Reload Bar in Canberra is doing it right with a Tekken Launch Tournament. Bring your own controller or use theirs, but make sure you register on time between 6:30pm and 7pm to ensure you get a slot in the comp.

Saturday

Need more Wonder Woman for your week? Kings Comics are having a Wonder Woman Day! Free Wonder Woman Comics, prizes for the best dressed Wonder Woman, and not to mention making your own Magic Bracelets & Tiara. Just the thing to prep to go see Wonder Woman for the 3rd time this week.

If you aren’t checking out the Princess of Themyscira on Saturday night in Madman is supporting a film premiere of Spookers ahead of the Sydney Film Festival next week. The horror film shot in Auckland will also is encouraging you to dress up in your best creepy horror costume to just make the screening that much more. Tickets are limited so best get in quick.

Sunday

If you have some Steampunk finery you may wish to get to the Goulburn Historic Waterworks on Sunday. The Steaming Day will have the Steam Engine and other steam related paraphernalia running for you to admire or look fashionable next to in your clockwork gear.

If you would rather be CS:GO’ing then BTTF3 on in Canberra the Reload Bar is holding their first CS:GO Tournament for the year. With 30 machines and 3 games running, this means up to 12 teams can fit in on this one-day event. Register your team early though to make sure you get a spot else find yourself amongst the spectators.

A small reschedule from a previous week’s rain but the SMRC Qualification for the National Drone races is on this Sunday in Sydney. If you want more details on the event jump over to their site for how you can attend as either a pundit or if you have your own rig, a pilot!

3. Victoria & Tasmania

Kicking off your plans with Trivia Night at the Phoenix in Melbourne! What is the category? Promising to span TV, Movies and Pop Culture in general, think of it as a Pop Culture Decathalon for your brain.

Also on Friday in Melbourne if you want more Nintendo in your costume party the Darkzone in Box Hill are having a Til Dawn Party with 7 hours of Laser Tag, Marvel vs Capcom, Mario Kart and more. With a single entry fee on arrival but best costume will get a free entry double pass for a future event, it sounds like pretty good value for all night.

Saturday

It’s Wonder Woman Day at All Star Comics in Melbourne! Wonder Woman sketches, win double passes and an auction of Wonder Woman artist Nicola Scott’s artwork for charity!

Also in Melbourne, if you have an itching for some Hearthstone you can play in Zen Gaming Lounge’s Hearthstone matches this Saturday. Only $5 entry which goes to the prize pool to make your victory that much sweeter.

And if you need to bring your tabletop DM skills up to the next level? AICon & TasPop are holding a Game-Mastering Workshop this Saturday in Hobart. If you take your DMing seriously you should checkout this all day event (but make sure you are there on time).

Wednesday

Starting our your plans with not one but two awesome Trivia nights in Adelaide to choose from. Pick between the Beach Burrito at Glenelg and their Rick & Morty Trivia Night OR the Grand Bar also at Glenelg for Harry Potter Trivia. You can only pick one & both have strict rules about time travel.

Running Friday and Saturday in Adelaide if you love independent publishing you can head to the Zine Warrior Print Fest. Expect to see many zines but probably quite a few independent self-published comics on offer at this event.

Also on Friday, there ain’t no party like a Book Launch party hosted by Adelaide‘s Greenlight Comics to celebrate local artist Dan McGuiness’ new book which he illustrated for comedian Anh Do. Come to get your copy signed, stay for the wine and nibbles.

Saturday

Also in comics this week the Emily Grace Hotel in Adelaide opens early for the Adelaide Comic Lovers & Creators meeting which is held on the 1st of every month. Come to talk shop with other creators or just chill with like minded comic folk & if you are a Greenlight Comics regular you can put down your previews order right there and then.

Sunday

If you are a Lady in Adelaide and love Comics then the Adelaide Ladies Comic Club Meet-Up for June is happening at Greenlight Comics! This month, Prince Leia by Mark Waid.

5. Western Australia

Wednesday

If you like your Smash Bros. pickup games weekly and pickup then the Escape Portal in Perth is having their weekly tournament. It’s their 5th one this year so if you are looking for some Smash Bros. friends you probably will find them here.

If you prefer something more fire and ice related Jack Rabbit Slim’s in Perth is hosting Brain of Thrones Trivia for all things Westeros.

And lastly for Wednesday night in Perth if you want to get into tinkering we can completely recommend Arduinos and the Artifactory is here to help you get started with their Fortnightly Arduino Enthusiasts meetup. Beginners are welcome but you will need to bring an Arduino & your own laptop with the IDE installed (check here for the IDE and if last minute you can get a compatible Arduino + a breadboard from Jaycar… if you can’t wait for one from LittleBirdElectronics)

If you need something non-WW or the Rock related and have an apperating license you can get into some Harry Potter Trivia. Hosted by the Emerson Bar in Perth booking is an absolute must if you want to take your muggle friends for your team.

Friday

If we know anything about Seinfeld it’s that it was all about DJ music parties, which is probably why Perth‘s Lost Society Bar is having a Seinfeld party this Friday night! With DJs and episodes playing all night, if you want to know more you are just going to have to attend.

Saturday

If you aren’t going to the Carnival in Perth this Saturday you might be looking for something else to do, and while we might suggest going and seeing Wonder Woman again or visiting your favourite local comic shop for Wonder Woman Day there is still some other stuff to do.

If you are superhero fit you can dress to match the part with the Cannington Park Run celebrating it’s 4th anniversary and calling on runners to dress as Superheroes for this Saturday’s run.

But if running isnt your thing but running your own railroad is, the Australian Model Railway Association is holding an exhibition this Saturday in Perth. With over 50 stands you have to be loco to miss it (…we will see ourselves out).

And lastly for your Saturday if you are counting the minutes until the new Warhammer 40,000 Ultimate Box Set then Games Workshop in Joondalup are having a preorder event to make sure you don’t miss out. Check out their event on Facebook for full details and other stuff on offer for the day.

Sunday

If you want to follow the white rabbit to the Backlot Perth you can catch The Matrix in all it’s big screen glory this Sunday. Tickets are still available but limited for this once only screening.

And if you are looking for a massive Disney Themed party for your long weekend you are in luck with The Court in Perth having exactly that. Even better, if you turn up in costume for this 18+ event entry is free! Being a long weekend expect this to be packed.
