Hey remember these? Oh yes we are going to try and start bringing back what is on for your week in Geek again for 2021. With New MCU, big screen movies and remote events all happening this week, here’s your guide to everything happening this week in Geek across Australia in 2021

1On Streaming/TV

On  streaming this week we have our first MCU chapter since Spider-Man far from home in cinemas in 2019 – Wandavision. This weekly 1/2hr series is set for a 9 episode run centred on Wanda Maximoff and The Vision is the first of 5 MCU shows we expect on Disney+ this year set in the same universe as the multiple MCU films also set for this year. Between the MCU and Star Wars TV shows, it’s looking set that we might be heading for a full year of awesome friday night Disney+ shows every week ahead.

Also on Streaming we want to give a quick shoutout to Disenchantment season 3 that is also hitting Netflix this week. If you haven’t been watching, it’s not too late to binge this fantasy set animated series from Simpsons/Futurama creator – Matt Groening.

2In Cinemas

This week in cinemas we get something new! Boxing Day was our first taste of new movies on the big screen but it looks like that will continue for Australia (providing we stay safe and everyone follows the rules of course). For those who are able to go safely to the cinemas or drive-ins this week Shadow in the Cloud is set in WWII with Kick Asses Chloë Grace Moretz transporting something in a B-17 flying fortress when something supernatural attacks. This looks really good from the trailers and look out for our spoiler free review soon.

3Stuff To Go Do

And in stuff to go to this week there are still restrictions around the country but a few stand out events we can give a shout out to is the Nexus Toy Fair over in Perth for collectors of fine wares. That is in addition to the Perth Fringe World Festival that starts on Friday and runs until mid-next month. Also Genghiscon, the perth Sci-Fi/Fantasy con is going ahead in Perth on Saturday.

For the rest of the country we have the Melbourne Brickvention, the fan run LEGO event that is not going to miss a beat this year and going fully online. If you want to support this event and make sure it is still around next year for you to attend in person this is the best way to do it.
