John McClane in cinemas, The Expanse returns on Amazon Prime, Ryan Reynolds on Netflix and yeah, the Melbourne Symphony are doing some cool stuff too. Here is your guide to everything happening this week in Geek across Australia.
Take your pick this week in Streaming with the Expanse returning from the other side of cancellation with Season 4. The previous 4 episodes are already on Prime for this space-based Sci-Fi show but if you have Prime and have never heard of it you can actually watch a 15-minute intro with Kevin Smith as the Expanse Season 4 trailer right now.
Also in Streaming this week it’s that guy from Van Wilder: Party Liaison in the first Michael Bay exclusive film for Netflix – the all-action Underground 6. We don’t know too much about this one outside of the trailers but it definitely looks like a lot of fun and out this Friday.
Take your pick this week in cinemas with a splash of new and a bunch of classics as the Moonlight Cinemas and Rooftop Movies around the country hit their prime for the Christmas break. Starting with something new for horror fans is the Christmas themed revenge horror – Black Christmas. A remake of a 1974 horror by the same name if you love everything tinsel and horror than this one was made for you.
And in flashback cinemas it is the time for the greatest Christmas movie of all time – Die Hard. Pick your poison this week with the Moonlight Cinemas, Melbourne IMAX and a hell of a lot more all taking you back to Nakatomi Plaza in an Ode to Joy with John McClane. You are probably going to watch this one more than once before Christmas so why not start on the biggest screen you can find.
Stuff To Go Do
Looking for stuff to do this week? While we aren’t talking movies we would be remiss not to mention you can get your Christmas on with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra this Friday and Saturday as they accompany the original Saw movie – Home Alone. These sessions are great and only come along every so often so why not enjoy a little Christmas this weekend.
Jumping around to Sydney we also want to give a shout out to the Apollo Exhibition happening in the Sydney Powerhouse. This NASA exhibition has been running for a few weeks now but only has until the end of the year (that is pretty close now) before it’s gone so if you love all things space and are in Sydney make sure you take a tour.
