Stay in the aircon this weekend with The Umbrella Academy on Netflix. Adapted from the Gerard Way/Gabriel Bá Dark Horse Comics series by the same name about a disbanded superhero team, if you haven’t read the comics then after binging the series maybe head to your favourite local Comic Book store.
2In Cinemas
In Cinemas this week for your Valentines (or Singles Awareness Day) see James Cameron’s latest Manga adaption with Alita Battle Angel with our review out later this week. Or if you need more jumpscares there is also the sequel to the Groundhog Day of horror with Happy Death Day 2U.
Also if you want to get your indie film on don’t forget Flickerfest also on this Weekend in Melbourne.
3Stuff To Go Do
Brisbanites are spoilt for choice this weekend starting with the Power to the Pixel pixel art exhibition that has been running at the Brisbane Powerhouse finishing up this weekend. It’s free and on every day until the 17th with both local and international pixel artist work on display.
Also in Brisbane as part of the BrisAsia festival on Saturday is the House of Fandom Markets. Looking for some geeky goodness to add to your collection or perhaps just after that hard to find a gift for an upcoming Birthday? Check out these markets on Saturday.
And finally catch em all in Melbourne with the Pokémon Oceania International Championships happening from Friday through to Sunday. Focusing mainly on the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) and Video Game Championships (VGC) there will be tons of players at this with huge cash prizes as part of the tournament.
