This Friday as part of Brisbane‘s GOMA Two Minutes to Midnight Schedule check out the 2016 Shin Godzilla screening which continues the original Japanese Godzilla franchise. Oh, and it’s completely Free! Check the GOMA Cinema for the schedule for this Friday night screening.

And to round out your Friday night, need more Kevin Bacon? Check the Footloose and Flashdance double feature at the Brisbane Arts Cinema.

Saturday

Happy World Wildlife Day! Celebrate all the Danger Noodles and Trash Pandas this Saturday by visiting and supporting your local zoo (or maybe just browsing Reddit).

If you have Foxtel you can start your Saturday off with some Saturday morning cartoons with Big Hero 6 the series. This animated (not computer animated) series continues from where the movie left off for anyone who is going through Baymax withdrawals.

Get Your Geek On is an event as part of the BrisAsia Festival. This free event for 12 to 25 year olds as it is held at the Visible Ink Youth Hub. With Mario Party to Overwatch this event is being co-hosted by Netherworld who will run more than a few of the tournaments to this Saturday night event in Brisbane.

To tie in with the Brisbane BrisAsia festival Netherworld are celebrating all things NeoGEO with a series of games this Saturday. From King of Fighters to Fatal Fury enjoy the best of NeoGEO to go with your Hellmount Diner Japanese cuisine and Brisbane Brewing Co Green Tea Beer.

Prefer to have a quiet Saturday with some Disney classics? As part of the Disney Classics Film Festival you can get to Brisbane‘s Event Cinemas the second film Bambi. You might have been desensitised to Bruce Wayne’s parents but you might never get over this.

All weekend at Ballistic Beer Co is the inaugural Pinball Palooza with Brews, Food Trucks, Live music and most importantly intense pinball gaming. Running both Saturday and Sunday make sure you bring plenty of coins for this pay to play pinball comp in Brisbane.

Continuing as part of Brisbane‘s GOMA Two Minutes to Midnight Schedule catch Dr. Strange Love or How I Learnt to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb this Saturday. Following a screening of a talk about WWII to present day cinema this screening is also completely free and happening at the GOMA Cinema.

Not your cup of horror? Brisbane‘s Myer Centre event cinemas is playing The Exorcist this Saturday night.

Sunday

And finally to round out your weekend in Brisbane, if you are an adapt hand at SFX you can enter Netherworld’s Monster Makeup Competition. Contestants will be given a few hours to demonstrate their monster makeup skills on a willing model before catwalk and judging. Even if you can’t compete there will be workshops later in the day to give you SFX tips. It’s on Sunday.

After the Mardi Gras parade head to the Spawn Point small bar for their after party this Saturday night. Celebrating everything great about gaming and the Sydney Mardi Gras be prepared for a big night out.

Prefer to have a quiet night with some Disney classics? As part of the Disney Classics Film Festival you can get to Sydney‘s Blacktown Skyline Drive In for the second film Bambi. You can still pickup tickets beforehand via the Event cinema site, you just need to provide your own car.

Sunday

Film geeks will want to make sure they pickup a ticket early for this single Sunday session only of a 4K restoration of Doctor Zhivago. While not our regular recommendation for anyone who hasnt seen this 1965 classic might be in for a treat with it being some of Sir Alec Guinness’ pre-Star Wars work. It’s playing at Sydney‘s Ritz Cinema.

Draw 4 for the World Team Uno Championships happening in Canberra. Happening every Sunday for the month of March teams compete to take home the prize each week by laying the smackdown (and having the option to play as singles for all or nothing). Just don’t forget to say Uno when you get down to your final card.

Great Scott! Head to the Rooftop Cinema in Melbourne this Wednesday for the greatest time travel movie ever with Back to the Future Part II! Sure it may have lied to us about hoverboards but at least self-lacing Nikes aren’t too far away (even if you have to import them).

Knock knock Neo. Follow the White Rabbit for Melbourne‘s Pop Up Cinema screening of The Matrix this Wednesday. This limited run pop up cinema is nearly done for the season but you can still get a few more screenings in if you are quick.

Need a helping of trivia to get your weekend started? This Wednesday try Pixar vs Dreamworks trivia in Melbourne. From Kung Fu Panda to Buzz Lightyear this event is free but booking is absolutely essential.

Get your D&D on with TasPops Bi-Monthly 18+ gaming event. TasPop members get a special discount but new players brought by existing members will get special discounts too. Book to secure your place at this After Dark event in Hobart this Saturday.

Or if you prefer to show off your nerd credit with trivia instead with the 4th time for Hobart Games Society Geek Quiz this Saturday. Learning a lot from last year this years event with 10 rounds of trivia will feature new categories and mini-prizes throughout the evening.

One of our favourite one day events in Melbourne ComiXpo 5.0 is on this weekend. Comics, Gaming, Merch and Collectables are just some of the things you should expect on top of a lot of awesome Cosplay this Sunday at the Matthew Flinders Hotel in Chadstone.

The South Wharf Popup Cinema is nearly over for the year but there is still time to get in for one last session this Sunday with the Lion King. With less than a week to go make sure you get some tickets to check this out in Melbourne before it’s done.

4. South Australia & Northern Territory

Wednesday

Continuing this week at the Adelaide Fringe Festival from Wednesday (and also running the for most of the Festival) Thrones the Musical is the Game of Thrones parody you never knew you needed. Sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe this is a definite for any George RR. Martin fans.

Fresh from Perth’s Fringe World you can get all the sexy science time you need this Wednesday night with Nikola and I. Running until Sunday this week, be regaled by a night of your host as they retell being flung through time for space, science and cosmic “woo woo”. It’s on at the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

Want to combine your love of the rest of DC Comics and Burlesque this Friday? Get a ticket to Dawn of Justass: A DC Comics Burlesque tribute. Happening as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, shows are also limited but get your tickets for the limited performances left.

Not enough Burlesque for your weekend? Bazinga brings you Nerdlesque with Mario and Doctor Who themes to name a few. You will never be more confused then you will be watching sexy Spongebob Squarepants. No, don’t google it just get your tickets now for this Adelaide Fringe Festival show this Friday.

Continuing at the Adelaide Fringe Festival this Friday get your game on with Game Nights by BrainHackr. For the duration of the Festival every Friday and Saturday the BrainHackr will have a different game for play starting this week with Wild West Night Night (and Deception on Saturday night).

If your Friday wasn’t busy enough at the Adelaide Fringe then you need a big bad mother from outer space with Little Shop of Horrors. The classic sci-fi horror is being performed as  a live show this weekend only.

Or if you need to jump to the left for your musical Sci-Fi then also on Friday you can catch a live performance of the music from the Rocky Horror Picture Show also as part of the Adelaide Fringe.

Madman’s Anime Festival returns to Perth for it’s second year! After a great touring convention last year across Australia Madman have again made it their first stop to kick things off in Perth for this 2-Day event. Starting Saturday you can enjoy everything that Madman has to offer in great Anime, Manga and Cosplay in addition to some events outside the con too.

If you are at the Anime Festival you can also pickup some tickets to the exclusive Attack on Titan: Roar of Awakening screening after the Festival on Saturday in Perth. If you are a festival VIP ticket holder you already have tickets but anyone else can pickup tickets at the event.

Get your ticket for the greatest basketball movie ever made (after Airbud) with Space Jam at Perth‘s Rooftop cinema. While Space Jam 2 might be a while away you can still celebrate Michael Jordan’s historic win over the Mon-stars this Sunday.

And finally, need to take advantage of the long weekend in Perth? The Saint is hosting a Harry Potter Party this Sunday. Dust off your school robes as Witches and Wizards will get a free drink (but Muggles will have to fend for themselves.
