What’s On: Mar 1 – Mar 5

February is over and we are full steam ahead on stuff around the country! We already know that the Adelaide Fringe Festival is still on for a few more weeks but what is going on elsewhere? Glad you asked…

From today until Sunday in Brisbane at the Powerhouse if you are a Potter fan then you can catch Potter Unplotted: Improvised Comedy for Mischievous Muggles

Alternatively Bartronica in Melbourne is running their Nintendo 64 Mario Kart tournament for anyone needing to get their red shell on before the Switch release on Friday

And again with Bartonica in Melbourne for the Win two nights in a row hosting a cosplay optional (but encouraged) Disney Singles Party. If you are looking for someone for that ‘A Whole New World’ Karaoke Duet then this is probably your best bet.

For all Wil Wheaton fans around the country Event Cinemas have another In The House – Cult Film Classics at Event Cinemas session on with the classic Stand by Me if you are in need of feels. (And if you are super quick and get over to our friends atSupanova Pop Culture Expo you can enter to win a double pass but entries close Thursday midday so if you want to enter get over to their Facebook quick)

Also on Friday although Sold out over in Perth the Respawn Nintendo Boat Party is on. If you don’t have a ticket don’t worry because you can work on all those last minute cosplay modifications in time for what is happening on Saturday which Respawn will also be at…

Also on Friday which we mentioned last week for those old enough to attend Bazinga Burlesque has 3 nights of ‘nerdlesque’ at the Adelaide Fringe Festival

Lastly on Friday night and worth a mention for any Logan fans the Event Cinemas George St in Sydney are running a cosplay encouraged Logan screening with the chance to win some sweet prizes (no word on if this will include high grade adamantium or not)

AICon Tasmania is on in Hobart! We love AICon if you are in Tasmania this weekend definitely get along, it is happening all weekend long & this also includes the Madman National Cosplay Competition

Meanwhile on the other side of the country the firstMadman Anime Festival kicks off in Perth for both Saturday and Sunday. This is the first of these events which will also be happening in other major cities across the year

Also if you are in Perth, and while ALL the dates have changed since last we were provided, Neko Nation kicks off if you need to keep your Anime Festival going. Sorry, no word on the new dates for the other events but we will do our best to keep you up to date with changes (and update your digital calendar)

If you are feeling left out in Brisbane but it’s ok because you got yourself a sweet new Nintendo Switch you can also get out of the house becauseThe Magic Vault are hosting Badly.Play Brisbane’s Saturday Video Games! Nintendo Switch owner Club meet

Alternatively if you got really excited about Potter Unplotted there is also the Wizarding World Weekend hosted by The Luminarium Festival. If you know some kids 5-15 (or have some polyjuice potion) there is even a Try-Wizard Cup (no we didn’t spell that wrong)

*Update: If you are near Geelong/Avalon and want to get into Drone Racing checkout the Australian International Airshow which amongst all the aircraft there is displays to find out more. The Airshow is open to the public on Saturday & Sunday

While AICon & Madman Anime Festival are wrapping up on their last day the Toy Hobby & Licensing Fair starts all week in Melbourne, this is an event that is not open to the public. We only mention it because we hope it brings some new collectable news for next week.

*Phew* get all that? Did we miss anything? As always tell us in the comments below or maybe drop us a line
