SDCC 2022 – Day Three Wrap-up

This is it, the big day with people at SDCC camping out since the night before to get into those Hall H Panels what happened today in case you couldn’t be there yourself. But before you jump in you can still catch our  Day One and Day Two wrap-ups for anything you missed so far.

Movies

  • DC Animated Films confirmed RWBY x Justice League, Batman: The Doom that CAme to Gotham, Legion of Super-Heroes and Justice League: Warworld are all slated for a 2023 release
  • Warner Brothers and DC panel showed off a SDCC Black Adam trailer along with a first trailer for Shazam Fury of the Gods during it’s panel. While we expected something on Batgirl or possibly Blue Beetle (or maybe a schedule for Aquaman 2) no other films were mentioned at all making us wonder how far did Flashpoint reach into these other films
  • After a long announcement list of casting and art for the last few months we got the first official trailer for Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman (and it comes out soon too – August 5th)
  • Marvel confirms that Phase 4 ends this year with Wakanda Forever before revealing an updated Phase 5 timeline  that officially end with a Thunderbolts movie before Phase 6 that starts with Fantastic Four and ends with Secret Wars – Check out our complete Marvel Phase 5 summary for the details

Television

  • Star Trek Picard dropped a teaser for the third and final season. Appearing were most of the OG cast from The Next Generation including characters who had not appeared in the first two seasons: Worf (Michael Dorn), Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) and Geordi LaForge (LeVar Burton) and Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) from Star Trek Voyager/Picard. Approximately half of the cast were donned in variations of the classic 80s/90s Starfleet outfits.
  • The Star Trek animated series Lower Decks is to crossover with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds in the coming season . Star Trek Lower Decks also dropped a trailer showing they’re going to visit (or at least circle majestically) around the Deep Space 9 (DS9) space station
  • Apple Tv’s Mythic Quest dropped a teaser trailer for season 3.
  • Marvel dropped a new She-Hulk: Attorney at Law trailer with 4th wall breaks, the Abomination, Wong, the Wrecking Crew and a pretty big cameo at the end that we could easily call a spoiler
  • Marvels Phase 5 timeline announcement also confirmed Secret Invasion, Echo, Loki Season 2, Daredevil Born Again, Iron Heart and Agatha Coven of Chaos heading to Disney Plus in 2023/24 alongside the Phase 5 films in cinemas – Check out our complete Marvel Phase 5 summary for details
  • The Interview with a Vampire series has been doing press across SDCC weekend with a trailer dropping today
  • A trailer dropped for the documentary for DC’s Milestone comics Milestone Generations

Comics

  • DC announced that Superman: The Harvest of Youth is a new Superman based YA Novel coming out in October, a seven issue continuation of Batman: The Audio Adventures i and another YA graphic novel Constantine: Distorted Illusions both out in September
  • Marvel will have a limited series by current Iron Man writer Christopher Cantwell to tie into Dark Web, Gold Goblin centred on the newly ‘turned good’ Norman Osborne
  • Marvel also teased something new from Jonathan Hickman which is has been termed ‘It’s Sandman for the Marvel Universe’ and separately a new creative team for Fantastic Four
  • Christopher Cantwell’s Iron Man run will end in November with Iron Man #650
  • DC also announced a new Blue Beetle series – Blue Beetle: Graduation Day as a new series
