A Teenage Witch, 2 Aunts and a Talking Cat and all the hijinx you could handle was the basis for the beloved series Sabrina the Teenage Witch staring 90’s icon Melissa Joan Heart. Now in an age with Archie being turned into a Twin Peaks like Murder Mystery our favourite Teenage Witch is also making a comeback, minus the talking cat puppet (we think).
With Riverdale being such a success based on the more mature age Archie comic titles from the recent years it wasn’t long before we learnt that Sabrina the Teenage Witch was also to receive the updated for TV treatment. Taking cues from the Afterlife with Archie series the new Sabrina is a darker tone following the half witch/half mortal teenager.
Details are still limited despite a release next month with only a few teaser images and the short teaser trailer to go off but what we do know is that the Spellman High (not Riverdale, but that’s not to say there won’t be cross over) teenager’s life will be a darker coming-of-age story with more horror, focus on the occult and witchcraft. The show’s creators have gone further to say the tone of the show is aiming for more Rosemary’s Baby or The Exorcist than cat puppets.
You can check out the first look teaser below but then head to the comments and tell us what you think? Are you excited for Sabrina? Are you looking forward to this more The Afterlife with Archie style TV adaption? Did you know that Salem‘s last name was Saberhagen? Tell us in the comments down below!
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina appears on Netflix next month on October 26.
