Preview to PAX, the last chapter of the Deathly Hallows, Buffalo Wings and the Last Jedi, here is everything happening across the country this week!

1. Queensland

Wednesday

From Wednesday until Saturday you can enjoy the Australian Buffalo Wing Festival happening at 24 places across Brisbane this week! While we could list all the locations here maybe just jump over to the official site and search for the ones in your area.

We can only tell you about this twice, but Kristian Fletcher events in Brisbane is putting on a double feature of Beetlejuice and the Lost Boys this Wednesday night at the Metro Arts. You can pickup a ticket for the Beetlejuice/Lost Boys screening right now via the official ticket site with an encore of Lost Boys on Friday, but you can only catch Bee… the other movie on Wednesday night!

It’s Week 2 of Studio Ghibli with sessions all across Australia supported by Madman and with 20+ anime classics on the big screen. For the full line up and which cinemas near you to grab tickets check the full official Madman listing.

Thursday

First in Cinemas across the country Deadpool becomes Nick Fury’s Bodyguard to protect him against Commissioner Gordon in the Hitman’s Bodyguard! Ok maybe not, but the trailer does make it look pretty great (oh and Elektra is in it too)

Do you want to live forever? In selected cinemas across the country you can catch the continuation of the Starship Troopers franchise with Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars, written by the same person responsible for the original (and Robocop too!) this CGI chapter is in cinemas for one night only.

Friday

Nineteen years later, this Friday marks the final chapter of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Put on your house colours and meet up with your friends for a butterbeer and talk about your times at Hogwarts.

It’s Force Friday! Finally you can get your hands on the latest Star Wars merch dropping this weekend ahead of The Last Jedi, need to know more about what to expect? Check back later this week for our favourites.

And if you missed the Wednesday screening of Lost Boys Friday is your second chance! Also playing as a double feature at the Metro Arts in Brisbane and you can still pickup tickets online, but playing with Whatever Happened to Baby Jane and not Beetlejuice. … Dammit.

Also in Brisbane if you can answer one of lifes greatest mysteries, “Where has the rum gone?” then you can probably win Pirates of the Carribean trivia. Booking is essential and even if you don’t win you can still spend Friday night dressed like a pirate & swilling GROGtm. Update – This Event has been cancelled. But you can still dress up like a Pirate if you want to.

And on the Gold Coast the Gold Coast Show this Friday is giving free entry to anyone in Cosplay! It’s on all weekend but Friday is your excuse to dress up in your best Kylo Ren (or Renee) outfit and pickup all the showbags that your heart desires before it ends on Sunday (but free entry is only on the Friday for Cosplayers)

Saturday

TooCon is on this Saturday in Toowoomba! This is the first time ever for this one day event held by the Toowoomba libraries and it’s completely free! We love rural events so make sure you get out and support this one!

And later, looking for somewhere to watch the OPL League of Legends finals this Saturday? Maybe join other eSports fans in Sydney and head to the viewing party at the Spawn Point. It kicks off from 5pm and runs til it’s over, the only thing better would be playing it yourself.

Can’t wait til the new season to get your Game of Thrones fix? Island Somewhere in Melbourne has you covered with Game of Thrones Trivia this Wednesday. Entry is free but make sure you book ahead!

Alternatively if you want to put your encyclopedic knowledge of the Simpsons to the test, JAWS Events are putting on a gold coin donation trivia contest at not one but TWO venues in Melbourne! With a capacity of over 200 people, booking is essential.

Also in Melbourne, if Super Smash Bros. is lyf then Bartronica’s Wednesday night Super Smash Bros. tournament is for you. Entry fee gets you a pint of something tasty and you can show off your skills to win that sweet Bartronica Loot Box.

Even if you missed out on our double pass give away you can still book your own tickets to see Marvel’s The Inhumans’ first two episodes at the only way you can see it (legally) in Australia – at the Melbourne IMAX! This is a world-wide event and it is happening this Friday, plus… who doesn’t want to see Lockjaw in IMAX.

It might be 2 days later but the Melbourne Writers Festival is celebrating Harry Potter with an All Day Potter Extravaganza of events back to back. Trivia, cosplay, and a Philosphers Stone screening are all happening in Federation Square and they are all free!

And to round out your Sunday with something more classical, after Perth last weekend the The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of Goddesses orchestra performance comes to Melbourne. With only two sessions on the one day, you may not be able to place breath of the wild the same way again after.

Get to da Choppa this Friday night in Darwin as Cult Classic plays Predator! There is only the one session and there is a great line up coming up so why not make this part of your Friday night plans for a while.
