In case you didn’t feel a tremor in the force earlier today the annual Disney Investors Day was held which gives an overview to stock holders the direction of the company for the next financial year (in the US the financial year is not the same as Australia). And while we may have been spoilt previously with the next 5 years being announced at once, this year’s Investor Day was a bit more tame.
Running much shorter than the previous Investor Days outside of the regular business performance stuff and things like a first look at Tom Hanks in Pinocchio out later this year on Disney+, Confirmation of the next Avatar movie at the end of this year and some new Disney+ movies and series such as Seeing Red or the upcoming Cars/Baymax animated series. The big ticket items spoken about were Marvel and Star Wars. While there were highlight reels which largely showed properties we already knew were coming there were a couple of confirmations worth mentioning.
On the Marvel side we know the next show for Disney+ after Moon Knight will be Ms Marvel debuting around mid this year. Following that will be She-Hulk which is confirmed to release before the end of the year (likely September-October roughly for the US ‘Fall’). Not mentioned but also shown in the highlight reel was a Baby Groot which may correspond with the I am Groot series which is expected to be a Christmas themed special when it was announced in 2020.
On the Star Wars side of things Andor and Obi-Wan were both mentioned for release this year. Obi-Way got a full teaser trailer as well with the show coming out in under 3 months from now at the end of May. You can check out the trailer for yourself below but we can’t help but notice a few of the prequel trilogy actors returning in addition to the live action debut of the Sith Inquisitors from the Star Wars: Rebels animated series.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is headed to Disney+ on May 25th this year
