Ghostbusters 3 goes from Official to having a Director to a Teaser Trailer overnight

Something strange is definitely happening in the neighbourhood with yesterday confirmation dropping from Sony that Ghostbusters 3 is in the works and then naming director Jason Reitman but today doubling down on this is not a drill with a teaser trailer this morning.

Jason Reitman, son of Ghostbusters writer/director Ivan Reitman, who has done such films as Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking and Juno will direct this new film which is set in the same universe as the original two films. Outside of this we pretty much know nothing except that the film is intended for release in 2020 which means expect more details to roll out over the next few months as production starts.

While pretty short at less than a minute long, the teaser is more than a thrown together logo and some music with an abandoned barn revealing the original ECTO-1 which jams with everything else we know about the film so far.

For the longest time fans of the franchise had to be content with the EXCELLENT 2006 PlayStation 3 Ghostbusters game written in part by both Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as Ghosbusters 3 with the original characters. While we would love some of the original cast to return that does seem unlikely given the most recent Ghostbusters film. Will the new film borrow concepts from the game or is it more likely that it will jump ahead in time given the condition of ECTO-1 from the teaser? We are going to wait to find out.

You can check out the full teaser below and tell us what you think. Are you troubled by strange noises in the middle of the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic? Have you or any of your family ever seen a spook, spectre or ghost? Then head to the comments, we are ready to believe you.
