SDCC 2018 Day Two Wrap-up

The 2018 San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing! It’s Day Two and time to prepare for all the enormous news and announcements about your favourite and most anticipated movies, TV, games and comics!

If you missed our Day One wrap up you can still catch up and we will continue to bring you our quick wrap-up of the SDCC weekend. Here is our rundown of all the Saturday highlights!


  • The Hollywood Reporter and others are reporting that Disney has severed ties with Guardians of the Galaxy Director James Gunn over some older offensive tweets
  • No Aquaman trailer yet but a teaser trailer ahead of the full trailer this weekend with just Jason Momoa (not as Aquaman) swimming about
  • The Unbreakable/Split crossover Glass trailer that was teased earlier this week was released
  • The original Supergirl movie is getting a HD/Bluray update and re-release next week
  • And Evil Dead II is also getting the same treatment for release later this year
  • Teen Titans Go to the Movies is screening sneak previews this weekend at SDCC so expect some fan reactions online in the next day or two
  • The Matt Smith, Natalie Dormer and Stanley Tucci Zombie film Patient Zero got a poster
  • Jennifer Connelly is joining Top Gun 2
  • Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 to be released in 2020
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald got a new poster
  • New Line Cinemas will be creating a series of horror films based on Mexican Folklore
  • Hall H got Stan Bush playing The Touch for some ultimate 80’s Transformer hype before new footage was shown. No footage online yet and with the Hall H upgrades to prevent piracy best you can do right now is a description
  • More Venom was shown as part of the Sony Panel as well as the new animated Spider-Man movie with Spider-Ham confirmed to be voiced by John Mulaney


  • Young Justice Season 3 ‘Outsiders’ showed it’s first trailer as part of it screening on the new (US Only at this point) DC Universe. You can watch Season 1 & 2 of Young Justice currently on Netflix in ANZ
  • Voltron Season 7 will be on Netflix August 10 with the Paladins returning to Earth and there is a trailer to go with it the series will end with Season 8
  • Breaking Bad creator has teased Walter White and Jesse Pinkman to show up in Better Call Saul
  • Cloak & Dagger has been confirmed for a Season 2 returning to Freeform (and not the new Disney streaming service)
  • The CW DC Universe has teased Batwoman in their December Supergirl/Green Arrow/Flash/Legends of Tomorrow/Black Lightning crossover
  • First look at the return of Invader Zim via a new Trailer and a poster
  • The fan saved Brooklyn 99 dropped a short during their panel
  • You think you waited a long time for Season 3 of Rick and Morty? The Venture Bros. Season 7 trailer was released ahead of the show airing later this year which is pretty consistent with the average 3 year break between seasons (Season One came out in 2004)
  • The Walking Dead Season 9 Comic Con trailer dropped which we expect to be the last for Rick
  • Star Trek Discovery is returning in 2019, while we expect this to be on Netflix in Australia in the US it will be on CBS (so here is a mirror of the trailer we can watch outside of the US)
  • We knew Adventure Time was ending this year but we are still a bit sad for the final trailer for our last time in Ood
  • The next big YouTube original series from the producers of Lost is a Future set Sci-Fi series with Draco Malfoy/Tom Felton, Origin
  • Season 2 of Impulse was also announced by YouTube
  • A Buffy series reboot is in the works with Joss Whedon as producer
  • The new (and pretty awesome) Ducktales got a SDCC sizzle reel for the final 5 episodes of the current first season with a Tailspin and Darkwing Easter Eggs
  • The History Channel Vikings series season 5 trailer dropped
  • The TV series based on the John Travolta movie Get Shorty (starring The IT Crowd’s Chris Dowd) is getting a season 2 announcement via a trailer
  • Amazon’s The Tick doesnt have a Season 2 trailer but some behind the scenes for SDCC (Season One is available via Amazon Prime video and it’s really good)
  • American Horror Story Season 8 will be titled Apocalypse
  • The Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett ‘Good Omens‘ is coming to Amazon Prime as a 6 episode series in 2019
  • And technically from yesterday we have a little bit more about the new Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver which there are 2 different variants (US and UK) with the US one being sold at SDCC this weekend


  • Captain Marvel’s Kelly Sue DeConnick will be taking over Aquaman
  • Wonder Woman will be crossing over with Justice League Dark in The Witching Hour under Detective Comics’ James Tynion IV for halloween this year
  • Marvel Knights is relaunching with Sam Wilson/Cosmic Ghost Rider/Doctor Strange writter Donny Cates
  • Marvel announced a bunch of Spider related news with a new Superior Octopus series following Superior Spider-Man’s Doc Ock in his new cloned body, Spider-Girls series with Mayday Parker/Anya Corazon and Spider-Gwen to end with #34 (which may resume with the new title ‘Ghost Spider’ per the Marvel Uprising character
  • More of those Marvel Lenticular Covers are on the way showing classic covers mixed with new
  • Neil Gaiman has resumed work on Miracleman
  • Shredder will return in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder in Hell in 2019
  • Batman is getting a new look suit inspired by his original announced on the DC Twitter account
