HALO TV Series gets picked up by Showtime

If you watched the Microsoft E3 Press Conference last year (or are just a massive fan of HALO) you might already know that a HALO TV Series is in the works in conjunction with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television. What you might not know is that last week the series took a massive leap forward into reality.

Direct from Microsoft last week we got official confirmation that the new series has been picked up by Showtime with Rise of the Planet of the Apes Director Rupert Wyatt at the helm. More importantly the show is to be distributed globally through CBS Studios International (who are responsible for distributing Star Trek: Discovery).

The 10 episode season will be set against the 2001 original HALO game lore for the 26th century conflict between humanity and the Covenant, which is no doubt in safe hands with Halo 1-3, Legends and Reach writer Joseph Staten on board. While not much else is known right now outside of it being hour long episodes, much like discovery, we expect this to change as it goes into production in early 2019.

While no word yet on a release date seeing how filming and casting are still to happen, between this and Halo Infinite next year is looking like a great year for Master Chief fans.
