This week is freefall finger guns, wholesome time-looping DnD energy, base-building in the Delta Quadrant, and a 60s sci-fi throwback that is a warning to anyone throwing themselves out into the infinite void of space, but in a fun way. But before we get to the full list of new games, here are your highlights:
Aerial_Knight’s DropShot hits Xbox and Steam on Tuesday and honestly “falling and finger guns” is not a great description but it is accurate. You are in a high-speed freefall race against other players, shooting limited fingertip bullets while trying to grab a parachute and not get taken out. Rounds are quick, chaotic, and built around slipstreams, midair fights, and looking cool on the way down. It is weird and stylish and probably good this isn’t in VR… yet.
Baladins lands on PlayStation this Thursday and Switch on Friday, and it sits somewhere between Paper Mario and a very wholesome DnD session. It is a bright, tabletop-inspired RPG where you and up to three friends wander around solving problems, throwing parties, and generally trying to make the world happier. Fail too much and a Dragon literally rewinds time, because of course a Dragon is going to be more forgiving than the DM you have been torturing for the last 12 weeks every Thursday night.
Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown lands on Xbox this Wednesday, then hits Switch 2, PlayStation, and Steam on Thursday, and it has more than a little Fallout Shelter energy, just with warp cores instead of lunchboxes. It leans into roguelike runs and alternate outcomes, so things can go very wrong very quickly. If base building plus Star Trek sounds like your thing, this is very much that crossover.
Honourable Mention: And our honourable mention is, more so because of it’s Telltale/Myst-lite attributes, Lost In Space – The First Adventure. Cruising past the outer rim on Switch and Steam this Thursday this is based on the 60s TV show, not the movie with significantly more Matt LeBlanc. This is the first chapter of a five-part series but pretty sure it doesn’t end on them getting home. We have seen the show, it is Lost in Space not Lost for a little bit then found their way home In Space.
