Comics Pull List – October 2

If you have been keyed into the Absolute DC line you are probably wondering where is this going, with more teased from the main DCU than the Absolute universe. If you can’t wait until the Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman crossover later this year then Absolute Evil One-Shot is the introduction of many of the big bads for the Absolute including The Joker and a sneak into what is coming next.

The Absolute is not the only pace to find out what is happening next. The Absolute Universe was introduced in the DC All-In Special and this week the Omega Act ties-in what is been happening in Justice League Unlimited and Superman comics with Darkseid’s dark Legion of Superheroes. The roadmap for the next big DC event was announced with All-In and this looks like the penultimate step.

Sticking with DC this week if you are a fan of their holiday standalone books like the Christmas Holiday Bash or Valentine’s How to Look a Guy Gardener in 10 days (technically Lex in the City was just for Summer of Superman not an existing ‘holiday’) then the Halloween special is out this week. Zatanna’s Zatannic Panic is a one shot full of one shots with Batman, Raven, Ambush Bug, Swamp Thing and of course Zatanna. Add your collection or five it to your Halloween obsessed friend to get them into comics.

Looking for something in the YA category for DC or Marvel comics? Wondering what the equivalent of Strange Academy is in DC? Gotham Academy is the answer. Around since before Doctor Strange founded a school, First Year is a prequel series for before the main title takes place which makes it perfect for both readers looking for a DC gateway drug book or fans of Gotham Academy.

And over to Marvel there is still some books to check out this week with the starting being Spider-Man Noir. If you know him from the Edge of the Spider-Verse or just the animated Spider-verse movie you might know that the live action Nicholas Cage staring series is heading to Amazon Prime (at some point soon) so it is a good time to catch up on the B&W wall crawler but if you need another reason this one is coming from Savage Dragon writer Erik Larsen.

Have you thought to yourself lately, there is a LOT of Ghost Riders. Johnny Blaze, Danny Ketch, Robbie Reyes, Daken.Akihiro (Wolverine’s son) plus even more with the recent Benjamin Percy run – wouldn’t it be convenient if I could just put all my Ghost Riders in one place? A new creative team is taking over to maybe sort out all this excess Ghost Rider business with a Spirit of Violence running rampage and needing some Spirits of Vengeance.

It’s been a hot second since the last big X-Men event and while Krakoa is no longer about the number of X-Books tells us something was bound to happen with a heir of Apocalypse creating Mutant territories across the US. This will be happening across all the X-Books for the next few months so if you are a X-Men casual you will need to pick this up.
