In this week of new games, it’s a new console week, and you can tell — because while everyone else is racing karts or catching feelings, someone out there is taming nightmares in a cursed forest and refusing to touch the shiny new hardware out of spite. But before we get to the full list, here are your highlights:
Mario Kart World drifts onto the Nintendo Switch 2 this Thursday as the console’s flagship launch title — and honestly, it’s going to be the thing everyone loads up first. This is a full-blown evolution of the series, connecting courses into one massive world map with new traversal mechanics, a 24-player elimination mode, and yes, Free Roam Mario Kart. (Also, Cow. Apparently.) Most of the Switch 2 line-up this week is ports and tune-ups, so this one’s the real main event — and it’s easing us in before the wallet pain truly begins.
DELTARUNE drops Thursday on Switch, Steam, and Switch 2 — bringing its first four chapters of bullet-dodging, dog-petting, deeply emotional weirdness to the masses. If you played Undertale and it rewired your brain in the best way, this is the parallel story you’ve been waiting for. Familiar faces, new friends, big feels, and only one ending (apparently). Also, yes — it’s part of the early Switch 2 line-up which is honestly probably overkill but at least you can feel something existential and test out those shiny new Joy-Cons.
Honourable Mention: And our honourable mention this week goes to Voidsayer, slithering onto Steam and Epic this Tuesday for anyone skipping the shiny Switch 2 stuff in favour of something darker, weirder, and a lot more cursed. Think Pokémon, if it was set in a dying world ruled by the Abyss and every fight felt like a doomed expedition into cosmic horror. If you’ve ever wanted to tame monsters with too many teeth and not enough sanity, this one’s calling from the void.
