New gaming releases this week we have a week of magical swamp-walks, tactical face-punching, dirtbike déjà vu, and at least one emotional support mammoth — and that’s before the mascot simulator breaks your brain. But before we get to the full list, here are your highlights:
South of Midnight stumbles out of the Xbox Showcase mist and onto Xbox (Tuesday) and Steam (Wednesday), dragging a heap of Southern Gothic flair and enough generational trauma to fill a podcast season. It’s a third-person action-adventure where you play Hazel, a magical “Weaver” who fixes spirits, punches folklore monsters, and probably still gets passive-aggressive texts from her aunt. Atmospheric? Yes. Combat-heavy? Also yes. Surprisingly not another roguelike? Miraculously, yes.
Commandos: Origins sneaks onto Xbox (Wednesday) before flanking Epic, PlayStation, and Steam (Thursday), because what’s a covert op without a slightly confusing rollout? This one’s pure real-time tactics throwback — in the lineage of Company of Heroes, but trimmed down to six specialists who all moonlight as chaos gremlins with military training. It’s stealth, sabotage, and probably yelling “go loud” way too early, all in the name of WWII nostalgia.
Monster Energy Supercross 25 – The Official Video Game launches on Epic, PlayStation, Steam, and Xbox (Thursday), proudly continuing its tradition of sounding like a council permit application form with a Monster logo slapped on. It’s the latest in the long-running dirtbike series — one of the last few still kicking up mud indoors — now running on Unreal Engine 5 for even more realistic stacks and last-place finishes. New tracks, new riders, and the same familiar feeling of casing a triple in front of an entire digital stadium.
Big Buck Hunter: Ultimate Trophy hits Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox (Friday), then wanders onto Epic and Steam (Saturday) like it took a wrong turn at the arcade. It’s the same cabinet classic you’ve seen everywhere from bowling alleys to questionable takeaways — now with triple the content and yes, you can hunt a mammoth. Still feels slightly wrong using a mouse, but hey, high scores don’t care about honour.
The Talos Principle: Reawakened lands on Xbox (Thursday) and then unlocks itself on PlayStation and Steam (Friday), now rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 because apparently even simulated philosophy needs a graphical overhaul. It’s a remake for the original’s fans — same thoughtful puzzles, upgraded visuals, and just enough new content to justify running it all again. Less a reboot, more a reminder that your GPU can now render existential dread in 4K.
Monaco 2 pulls off the job on Xbox (Thursday) and Steam (Friday), ready to test just how well you and your mates handle chaos in a top-down co-op heist. If Commandos isn’t your thing but you still want two-player mayhem with a side of “improv or die,” this slick little crew-based caper might be your getaway car.
Honourable Mention: Do you want weird? Ok we can do weird – Our honourable mention this week goes to Promise Mascot Agency, arriving on Switch and Xbox (Thursday), then making a chaotic entrance on Epic, PlayStation, and Steam (Friday). It’s part mascot management sim, part open-world fever dream — featuring sentient fingers, cursed towns, and a suspiciously weaponised Kei Truck. From the folks behind Paradise Killer, which should tell you everything and nothing all at once.
