Look, there is a LOT coming out this week and much like life they are going to come at you pretty fast, but if you don’t stop and wishlist some once and a while, you could miss em. This week we have SEGA’s flagship blue blur, Magic firearms with Devolver Digital, the Red Right Hand of Doom from Dark Horse Comics gets a game, party games with friends, Super Mario as an Elephant and a guy who can catch these just like flies. But before we get to the full list, here are your highlights:
Starting a BIG week in gaming is the side scrolling blur blur of Sonic Super Starts. Dropping first on Steam and for Switch on Tuesday before Xbox on Wednesday this one is about nostalgia without the limits of a 16 Bit Mega drive slowing you down. Play with up to 4 players but this is classic Sonic with a new brush of paint, which is sometimes all you want.
Coming in hot from the Steam Next-fest online game fesival and published by Devolver Digital is the new online sandbox survival – Wizard with a Gun. This is a solo or coop title that has you playing as a wizard who uses firearms to use magic, not just for offence but for crafting and building too. It looks pretty interesting and is on Steam and Xbox from Tuesday.
If you are a fan of Mike Migola’s Hellboy then the Red Right Hand of Doom is getting his first big time adventure game with Hellboy: Web of Wyrd dropping on Thursday on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and even Steam. This is trying something new with it trying on a rogue-like beat em up approach as you travel into the Wyrd to retrieve a missing BPRD agent.
Penultimately for this week is the sequel to possibly the defining game of the PS4 era with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming for PlayStation 5. Depending on where you sit on the fence with Miles Morales being a full game or big DLC this is our 3rd trip to New York with this one offering a larger map and a chance to switch between 2 web heads ala GTAV. We are looking forward to this one on Friday.
And lastly in a week with just TOO MANY GAMES to play all at once is the new Super Mario Bros Wonder coming to the Switch on Friday. This is the first entirely new Super Mario side scrolling game to come out since Super Mario U on the WiiU so if you have been having dreams of powering up Mario to be an elephant your dreams have come true and you have oddly specific dreams. This one comes out on Friday.
Honourable Mention: And our honourable mention this week goes to some party gaming fun that doesn’t even require everyone to have a controller with Jackbox Party Pack 10. Out first for PlayStation, Switch and Steam on Thursday before Xbox on Friday, if you don’t know this is a bunch of party games that you can play with friends and only one person needs to run the game with everyone else able to just use their mobile phones and a browser – how messed up your answers are however is up to you.
