CosFriday – Other Half Cosplay

Happy CosFriday Everybody! Is a whole week to wait for a CosFriday not enough? We hear you, so this week we double your Cosplay and introduce you to the Cosplay Duo – Other Half Cosplay!

What’s your name & how old are you? We’re Misa and Faith, and we’re both in our late 20s

How long have you been cosplaying? Misa: Since 2013, I think?

Faith: i’ve lost track lmao. on and off for about 9-11 years? something like that

What inspired you to start cosplaying? Misa: My girlfriend, Faith. Having a background in theatre and an interest in costumes also helped, but one of the most inspiring things was knowing that you could make costumes yourself from whatever show/movie/game you liked and connect with other people through that.

Faith: It’s a marriage of theatre and anime and shows and games I like. I like both of those things, and in theory putting both of those things together sounded right, and so it seemed only natural to go down that route.

What was your First Cosplay? Misa: Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time (with Faith as Marceline)! I made the crown myself – it wasn’t great, but it worked at the time.

Faith: it might’ve been Orochimaru? it’s been A While.

What is your most recent cosplay? Misa: I’ve definitely slowed down with my cosplays, but my last cosplay was Anastasia (the Russian princess). It was awesome to cosplay one of my favourite childhood characters.

Faith: Blue Diamond from Steven Universe, or was it Rouxls Kaard from Deltarune?

What cosplays are you currently working on? Misa: Nothing at the moment, though that could change very quickly!

Faith: Bon Clay from One Piece

Who are your favourite cosplayers in the community? Misa: Lisa from Blackcrane Cosplay, and Meg from Percy Saphinia Cosplay – their wealth of knowledge, skills, and kindness is incredible. I definitely wouldn’t have been able to pull off a lot of my cosplays without their help.

Faith: I’m not sure if you accept international cosplayers, but Rea Kami’s pretty great, and I’ve never not appreciated Jin (behindinfinity). They’re not necessarily always cosplaying from stuff I watch, but I see how they treat the community they build, and how comforting their presence is, and I think that’s what’s most important to me.

Who else do you want to cosplay? Misa: Coraline – I’ve done a simplified version of Coraline to a friend’s Halloween party before, and I’d like to do a proper cosplay of her one day.

Faith: I’ve gotten into Dungeons and Dragons recently, so I’d like to cosplay my bard at some point. For characters from shows, I’d like to do Aaravos from The Dragon Prince.

Tell us an odd fact about yourself! Misa: I taught Faith how to pronounce “paella”

Faith: I used to pronounce the L in “paella”
