Play 8-bit classic handhelds while inside VR, manage a corrupt Sheriffs department and jump back to the VCR gaming era and a lot more this week in games. But before we get to the full list, here are your highlights:
On Monday if you miss your original gameboy with it’s monochrome graphics you are going to want to pick up Pixel Ripped 1989 when it comes out on Steam for Vive, Oculus and Windows Mixed Reality Headsets. No that isn’t a mistake, Pixel Ripped is a game inside a game inside VR! Pickup your handheld inside the virtual world to play games based on the 8-bit handheld generation while you are in a great looking virtual world, trying to sneak in game play without getting caught in school or other locations (seriously, this looks really good).
What if the Original Doom was combined with the art of Minecraft and the procedurally generated level magic of Diablo? You would get One More Dungeon out this week on XBox. Don’t be confused by the cute graphics of this FPS as you go deeper and deeper into the Dungeon to stop the evil invading into our world. Pick it up on Tuesday.
Remember Night Trap? Or any of those 90’s VCR based games which mixed in video with gameplay? If you want to relive that time on Wednesday you can pick up #WarGames on XBox which has you shape the story of leading a band of hackers from pranksters to hacktivists with an adaptive story that changes as you make decisions and choose what feeds to pay attention to.
Saturday get your Contra/Metal Slug fix with Jump Gunners on XBox. Not just throwing back to 16 bit pixel graphics this game also has a distinctly 16 bit soundtrack to match as you use your gun not only to shoot your way through this platformer but using the recoil to jump.
Honourable Mention: One of our favourite games from 2016 was the Police Dispatch simulator This is the Police where you manage the Police Force across a major city and now it returns in the sequel This is the Police 2. Taking all the elements from the first game and adding a more hands on control your job is to run the Sharpwood Sheriffs office. Catch criminals, manage your officers and try to keep out of jail yourself when this comes out on Steam on Thursday.
