Thor Director Taika Waititi’s new series Wellington Paranormal gets an Australian Airdate

After Thor Ragnarok hit cinemas you might have been wondering, who is this Taika Waititi guy? How can I get more of him? Why didn’t Dug print out more leaflets for the revolution? If you can get past overthrowing the status quo you might be happy to know Taika’s new ongoing TV series Wellington Paranormal is coming to SBS this month.

Wellington Paranormal is a new series which premiered in New Zealand last night before being announced for Australia as a follow on from ‘What We Do in the Shadows’, made with Flight of the Concord’s Jemaine Clement currently streaming on Netflix ANZ. What We Do in the Shadows is a Supernatural documentary style feature focused on a group of Vampires who live in Wellington with Taika also playing one of the main characters.

The new series Wellington Paranormal is shot in a similar style co-created with Jemaine Clement and takes the focus to local Police in Wellington who come across Supernatural events just in the course of their normal day of work. Think Cops + the X-Files but Taika Waititi style.

You can watch the trailer for the series below but the premiere for Australia is not far away with a double episode planned to air on SBS at the end of this month which would put us just 1 week behind New Zealand (not too bad).

But what do you think? Are you a massive What We Do in the Shadows fan? Are you looking forward to some ongoing Taika style TV? Do you really think that if Dug printed out enough leaflets more people would of turned up for the revolution? Let us know in the comments below.

Wellington Paranormal premieres on SBS on July 31 and SBS OnDemand Streaming from August 28.
