In case you didn’t catch our full wrap up for Day Two of SDCC you might have missed the news that there is a whole heap of Netflix shows returning and best of all, you don’t have to wait til next year before they are here!
Star Trek: Discovery has been MIA for most of this year, originally to air back in January this show has been Schrodinger Cat of Star Trek neither knowing if it was coming or had been quietly cancelled. Fortunately during SDCC we found out a lot more with confirmation that it is set to arrive this year and it will be on Netflix.
Hardcore Trekkies will be able to watch the latest run of TV Trek from September 25th as a weekly series (in addition to airing in the US on NBC). This approach is becoming more and more common with Netflix airing shows weekly as we have seen with Designated Survivor and Riverdale most recently.
Originally when we first saw grabs from this series we can say we we’re too excited but this new trailer shows a whole lot of spit and polish has been run over this series with the pushed back date.
Also in ‘weekly’ series Riverdale season 2 made an appearance via Netflix at SDCC with the date of October 12th. Riverdale season one catch us by surprise in how good it was with only last SDCC we got a fairly cryptic trailer that made us wonder what happened to the happy go lucky Archie Comics that we knew. With the way season one left us, you better believe we are happy to wait less than a year for the continuation!
We already had a confirmed date for the return of Stranger Things season two but that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate more sneak peek videos from SDCC. Just think, unlike Riverdale and Star Trek when October 27 comes around you will be getting the complete season in full to binge, obsess and then figure out how to import Eggos from Amazon to Australia.
This isn’t the first bit of footage we have seen from Stranger Things season two but it doesn’t mean we aren’t excited for it.
