It was nearly 2 years ago when we first got a trailer for the upcoming Morbius film. Released in January of 2020 the film was originally slated for July of the same year. Now with the release schedule looking more solid Morbius returns with a new trailer and it it will either confuse or solidify where the Sony Spider-Universe forever.

In case you haven’t been keeping score Sony who have had the Spider-Man franchise rights since Tobey Maguire have been trying to build a Spider-Man cinematic universe even before there was an MCU. From spin-off films to a rumoured Sinister Six focused series of films it hasn’t been until Venom that Sony really had made any real progress. Not quite inside the MCU but labelled “In Association with Marvel” it was pretty clear that Venom (who’s climax occurs in the same location that Pym Industries is in in the MCU) wasn’t set in the MCU. With Morbius also being labelled ‘In Association With” we had thought it would be much the same…. or so we thought.

The latest trailer gives us everything we would expect from a second trailer with a lot more fangs, a lot more action and a lot more story overall. Morbius being originally a Spider-Man villain who was a scientist seeking to cure a blood condition but ending up being turned into the Living Vampire. And the trailer backs that up with a look and feel to it that you would very much say makes it feel like it could exist in the same universe as the Venom franchise, until Michael Keaton aka The Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming shows up.

While the film trailer, resources available and even IMDB do nothing to clear this up but we cant help but wonder if those prison whites we saw in Homecoming were switched out for prison blues over the term of Adrian Toomes prison sentence.

You can check out the full trailer but then tell us what do you think? Are you hyped for Morbius? Do you think we might see a connection to the MCU with the multiverse breaking down? Are we just a Cloak and Dagger film away from a Maximum Carnage version of Infinity War for Sony? Let us know in the comments down below.
