This week’s CosFriday guest has really done it all. From heroes to idols, Thunder Bunny Cosplay can truly transform into anyone. And if you’re heading to MadFest this weekend in Perth, you can see her as everyone’s favourite demon, Nezuko, at the Demon Slayer Booth.
What’s your name & how old are you? I’m Mika and I’m 21
How long have you been cosplaying? I’ve been cosplaying since 2017, but had always watched it from the sidelines since about 2012
What inspired you to start cosplaying? I’ve always really been into costumes and performing and as I grew up dressing up for musicals I found I wanted to do it more often. Having followed a lot of fashion movements like steampunk and Lolita I felt it was really just the next step. It was one of the best steps of my life as it has blossomed into this wonderful hobby.
What was your First Cosplay? My first cosplay was Bombshell Wonderwoman. I was so nervous at first but was instantly recognised as her. The whole day flew by as so many people encouraged and complimented me. I had about fifty plans of what I wanted to make after that.
What is your most recent cosplay? My most recent cosplays were Yennefer Vengerberg from the Witcher 3 and Kotori Minami from Love live! I’ve always had a very broad range of tastes when it comes to cosplay and love that I can be cute and frilly one day, and powerful and edgy the next.
What cosplays are you currently working on? With Pax being so close I’m currently working on finishing up Annette from Fire Emblem and fixing up my version of Hylian Mipha from The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild! A lot of Perth’s conventions are at the end of the year so I’ve spent the majority of the year planning for now and have a lot less on my plate than normal.
Who are your favourite cosplayers in the community? My favorite cosplayers are elliechristina, redscarf__, emi.apollo and emjainecosplay. All of these ladies have really inspired me and continuously push my to strive for more and go bigger.
Who else do you want to cosplay? I’d really love to do Clare from Claymore, Hannah Alexander’s Zelda artwork, TS Edelgard from Fire Emblem Three Houses and Red from Transistor.
Tell us an odd fact about yourself! I joke about being a cat lady a lot, but I’ve actually got my two childhood cats tattooed on my thigh!
