What’s On: Oct 2 – 8

Batwoman Begins, the Joker in Cinemas, Madfest Perth with a side order of Adelaide Comic and Toy Fair, Ballarat PopCon and LEGO events for your Brisbane long weekend. Here is your guide to everything happening this week in Geek across Australia.

1On Streaming/TV

On your small screen this week expect a lot of fast tracked WB with Foxtel starting the week with the premiere of Batwoman on Tuesday. We first saw Ruby Rose’s Batwoman as part of the awesome crossover event across Arrow, Flash, Supergirl (and Legends of Tomorrow as a tie-in) last year. With Arrow ending it’s about time we got some Bat.

Also, this week if you haven’t caught the Kim Possible’eque awesome that is Carmen Sandiego you are missing out. Season One was one of our favourite new animated series on Netflix this year so you better believe we will be binging on Season Two this Wednesday.

2In Cinemas

The Clown Prince of Crime, the Man who Laughs but you probably know him best as The Joker and this week he is in cinemas. Batman’s darkest rogue is getting his own movie and while we aren’t exactly sure what we are in for you can check out our spoiler-free review out later this week.

3Stuff To Go Do

Starting in Perth this weekend is Madfest! The Madman Anime Festival is everything you love in Anime and Japanese Pop Culture powered by Madman Entertainment. The last Madfest for 2019 is coming at you with guests and a ton of early looks at Anime that you can only see at Madfest.

Jumping across to Adelaide if you are missing that mint in box Masters of the Universe Moss Man action figure or one issue in your complete run of Fraction’s Hawkeye maybe you should check out the Adelaide Comic and Toy Fair on the long weekend Monday. Not limited to Comics and Toys you can also find Video Games, local Artists and more.

Jumping outside the Capital Cities and closer to Ballarat is PopCon on this Saturday. Happening for one day only this is a big event for cosplayers with workshops and comps to go with gaming and vendors. If this is your local con make sure you get along to help this get bigger and better.

And finishing up for your long weekend in Brisbane is the LEGO fan event – BrisBricks. If you have crossed /r/LEGO on Reddit, made to Supanova or OzComicCon lately you might have seen some of their awesome creations like the LEGO State Law Building, Batcave and massive Hogwarts build. 12,000 visitors are expected across the long weekend so don’t forget to pick up tickets before you check out the show.
