Are you ready for OzComicCon Sydney? Well, this week’s CosFriday cosplayer is, Babyshivers.  She’s known for some unique, beautiful, and fun cosplays (seriously, you need to see her cell shading!).

What’s your name & how old are you?  My name is Karen and I’m 32.

How long have you been cosplaying? I’ve been cosplaying for about three years or so, I was interested in it for a while before but it took me some time to gain the confidence to start cosplaying.

What inspired you to start cosplaying? I’ve always had an interest in creating costumes, makeup and craft so I was really interested in learning more about how other people created their cosplays. I started to learn how to sew and create props, and eventually I had the confidence to start making my own cosplays.

What was your First Cosplay? It was a Harley Quinn cosplay, it wasn’t one that I was very proud of and I’d like to revisit it one day to give it a better try!

What is your most recent cosplay? My most recent cosplays are my Avengers: End Game Black Widow suit, and my Nuka Girl rocketsuit from Fallout. They were both challenging in different ways but I was happy with how they turned out in the end!

What cosplays are you currently working on? I’m currently working on a quick Psycho cosplay from Borderlands 3, it’s not very involved or complicated but I really love the cel-shaded aesthetic of Borderlands and it’s fun to do a kind of silly and messy cosplay in contrast to the prettier cosplays that I sometimes like to do.

Who are your favourite cosplayers in the community? My friends! I love meeting new people through cosplay and seeing the unique and interesting ways that they approach their own cosplays. It’s always really lovely to meet people with similar interests and to collaborate with and learn from them.

Who else do you want to cosplay? I would like to continue working on some more DC Bombshells cosplays (I’ve previously made Batgirl, Batwoman and Mera) and I think I’ll be finishing off Bombshell Death pretty soon. I also plan to keep making some more Fallout cosplays, and I’d love to make a Mistress of Mysteries outfit.

Tell us an odd fact about yourself! I love mermaids and anything related, but I cannot swim.
