D23 has come and gone this weekend and while there was a ton of announcements it was the new Disney+ streaming service which is clearly the current gem in the Disney stable with a ton of new announcements for the new service. But without question, the big reveal this weekend was the first official full-length trailer for the new live Star Wars series – The Mandalorian.
We have known about the Jon Favreau series for some time now but with it being exclusive to Disney+ there was a question whether we would get to see it here in Australia but with the news that the Disney+ service will be launching here (for $8.99 AUD a month) and in Europe a week after the US we are hyped for the new trailer. We also now know that when the service begins it won’t be a Netflix style binge-fest with a new episode dropping each week (from different directors including Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi) to keep you coming back.
Set in the space between Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith and before A New Hope the series will follow not the most famous Mandalorians of Jango and Boba Fett but another from the same armour-clad origins as a gun for hire/bounty hunter in the outer rim. That does not mean the series will be set apart from the rest of the Star Wars Universe with familar bounty hunters like IG-88 showing up in the trailer.
You can watch the full trailer below and then make sure to head to the comments to tell us what you think. Are you hyped for the Mandalorian? Will you be subscribing to the new Disney+ service? When will Lobot get his own Disney+ series? Let us know in the comments below.
The Mandalorian will be premiering on Disney+ Australia on launch day of November 19th
