What’s On: May 29 – Jun 4

Archer and Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett on TV, Godzilla in Cinemas and a metric ton of events from Magneticon in Townsville to the Southern Hemisphere Open in Perth on International Tabletop Day. Hope you weren’t planning on a quiet week. Here is your guide to Everything happening this week in Geek across Australia.

1On Streaming/TV

LAAAAAAAANAAAAAAAAAA! TV starts your week off strong with Season Ten of Archer coming to Foxtel express from the US. What can we say about Sterling Archer apart from if you aren’t hyped for the new Space-based season then you really need to get binging with Seasons One through to Nine up on Netflix right now. Don’t worry about what else is on, go watch now!

Next is the Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett series Good Omens. Based on the novel by the same name about an Angel and a Demon working together to avert the apocalypse. Not enough? It also has Doctor Who/Jessica Jones/Ducktales’ David Tennant. You will need an Amazon Prime account to watch this as it releases globally Friday.

And finally on next Tuesday is Season Two of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger on Foxtel. We know that most of Marvel TV was excluded from the snap and the events of Endgame but that doesn’t stop us from wanting to know what did happen in the expanding world of Marvel TV.

2In Cinemas

Get big in cinemas, really big with Godzilla: King of Monsters out across Australia. The sequel to the 2014 film (and it’s prequel, the 2017 Kong Skull Island) this one looks to have a huge cast of classic Kaijus from the original films including King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan.

If you ever borrowed Tintin from your school library as a kid you might know a little something about a small village in Gaul that held back Roman invasion thanks to some magical potion. Also out on Thursday is the big screen animated feature for Asterix and Obelix (and Dogmatix) with Astrix and the Magic Potion.

Check back later this week for our spoiler-free review.

3Stuff To Go Do

This Saturday is International Tabletop Day! What is International Tabletop Day? Created by Geek & Sundry it is an international day to give you an excuse to play ALL TEH GAMES! Tabletop! Board Games! Card Games! Need an excuse to play some exploding Kittens with your Friends? This Saturday is that excuse! (Not that you really need an excuse).

Looking for something to get out and do this weekend? If you are in Townsville your very on ComicCon – Magneticon is happening this weekend! Expect Cosplay, Vendors and Special Guests! We love cons outside of capital cities and they can only get bigger with your help so if you are in North Queensland make sure you get along.

Also this weekend if you are in Perth there is a gambit of niche geek events with the Southern Hemisphere Open Table Top Gaming and the GunPla and Mecha Model Kit Exhibition both happening at the Claremont Showgrounds on top of the WA Model Train Exhibition also happening in Perth thanks to the Western Australia Day long weekend.
