Not sure what to do this week? There are magic lamps and evil Supermen in cinemas, the Winchesters in Melbourne and MadFest continues its tour to Brisbane. Here is your full and complete guide to EVERYTHING happening this week in Geek across Australia.

1On Streaming/TV

You are probably still coming down from Game of Thrones being over and we wish we could tell you about a new series out this week for you to obsess over. But with Westworld Season 3 slated for 2020 this week, we might recommend you check out the stand-alone Netflix film Rim of the World. Think the Stranger Things kids during an Alien Invasion.

Also on Netflix this week there is a new series called What/If that is geared to be a more neo-thriller style series with 10 episodes about tales of morality. We don’t know too much about it but Back to the Future’s Robert Zemeckis was attached as an executive producer so it might be worth a look on Friday.

2In Cinemas

In Cinemas this Thursday is James Gunn’s latest giving us a ‘What if Superman was Evil?’ story with Brightburn. If you are a fan of Mark Millar’s Irredeemable or Elseworlds titles then this more on the horror side tale might be for you.

Or if you need something a bit more Disney-level lighter the live-action remake of Aladdin is also out in Australia cinemas this Thursday. We were definitely a bit apprehensive with the whole Wil Smith/Robin Williams Genie thing too but the latest trailers look… not too bad.

Check back later this week for our spoiler-free reviews for both.

3Stuff To Go Do

Fans of the Winchesters probably already know what is happening this weekend but if you don’t it’s not too late to get yourself to Melbourne for All Hell Breaks Loose 10 the Australian Supernatural Con on this Saturday and Sunday. These are always large events with an assorted cast from the show but this weekend will be the first time with both Sam and Dean (aka Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) being at the con.

The big event this weekend in Brisbane is the Madman Anime Festival returning for its 2019 run. Two days of pure Anime and Manga themed convention goodness with all the Japanese pop culture you can handle (well probably a bit more). Not as big as some of the major cons but well worth your support if you want more of this!

Also this weekend in Brisbane we want to give a quick shoutout to BrisBricks happening in Morayfield. A Fan based LEGO event it will have 30 massive LEGO displays on top of vendors and other LEGO goodness. If you are a LEGO fantastic (or know someone who is) these are always great to go check out.
