What’s On: May 8 – 14

Detective Pikachu sleuths into Cinemas, #savelucifer Season 4 on Netflix, Dessert Festivals, Wollongong ComicGong, Gosford’s Central Coast Comic Con… Oh and Mother’s Day. Here is your guide to Everything happening this week in Geek across Australia.

1On Streaming/TV

The Devil comes to streaming with the new season of Lucifer exclusive to Netflix. Cancelled last year Lucifer was one of a short list of series that were saved by fan intervention with #savelucifer trending and getting the streaming giants attention. Now free of TV censorship we are expecting this season to rub just a little extra sexy on it.

2In Cinemas

It’s safe to go back into cinemas this week with Deadpool 2.75 aka Detective Pikachu out this Thursday. If we told you 10 years ago that Ryan Reynolds was going to play Pikachu in a live-action Pokemon movie you might have said ‘Wow the guy who was just announced to play Green Lantern? I can’t wait to see that!’. Catch our full spoiler-free review out later this week.

3Stuff To Go Do

First up don’t forget this Sunday is Mother’s Day for Australia! If you have a geeky mum (or you are one) there is some fun stuff on this weekend including Dessert Festivals and Mothers Day at the Melbourne LEGO Discovery Centre.

Also this week the Freeplay Independent Games Festival is on this week. Geared towards game developers or aspiring game developers there are a bunch of workshops and other events happening during the festival in Melbourne.

And if you are looking for more con related fun don’t forget that Comic Gong 2019 is happening this Saturday in Wollongong and the Central Coast ComicCon in Gosford. We love these one day cons outside the capital city and they only get better with your support so make sure you get along if you can.
