Welcome to 2019 and welcome to the first CosFriday of the year! We have been hunting for Australian Cosplayers and Cosplay Correspondents to bring you some of the favourite Cosplayers in the local scene! We kick everything off this week with Melbourne Cosplayer – Dropbear Cosplay!
What’s your name & how old are you? I go by and answer to a few as they are yelled across the con floor which are Dropbear, Kiki, and Kiara. I am currently going through my quarter life crisis, meaning I am 25 years old.
How long have you been cosplaying? I have been cosplaying since 2016. Although, in 2016 it was a very quickly put together costume for Supanova Melbourne. So I’d like to say I ‘officially’ started cosplaying in 2017 where I debuted my X23, which means I have been cosplaying for 2 years!
What inspired you to start cosplaying? I love challenges and learning new things so when I started to see people create amazing sets of armour out of foam mats and hot glue I was inspired to try and do the same. And as the old saying goes… practice makes perfect!
What was your First Cosplay? Rey was the first one in 2016. I practically modded the entire costume I bought the night before Supanova. Not much has changed I guess, I’m still never organised or on time…
What is your most recent cosplay? Wow, that’s a hard one. I think it’s my most recent version of Thor? I’ve just answered the question with another question hahaha.
What cosplays are you currently working on? Another hard one because I am very random and chop and change my mind so much so I have started on multiple which are Wonder Woman, the new Red Hood, Shark Boy (genderbend), and I am also currently upgrading my Superboy suit.
Who are your favourite cosplayers in the community? I have so many favourite cosplayers in the community, a lot of which I call my friends. It’s hard to list them all so I will list a few of my fave builders (one day I hope to be as skilful as them) such as @ninjaidis_cosplay, @kamuicosplay, @guardiancosplay, @evilted, @lumincosplay, @the_shredded_cosplayer, @something.like.morgan, and @willow.creative.nl. Honestly, the list goes on, I could be here all day.
Who else do you want to cosplay? Um. Too many. So let’s just go with one of them, I want to build something massive!
Tell us an odd fact about yourself! I enjoy working under stressful situations. i.e. beginning cosplays a week/days before a con.
