The highly anticipated first true post-Sydnerverse DC Universe film is just over a month away we were treated with a new possibly final trailer for the new Aquaman film this morning. Building on the hype we have been feeling for this new brighter DC with films like Shazam the new Aquaman trailer gives us a lot to look forward to.
It’s no secret that everyone noticed the colour shift on the new upcoming film slate. With Aquaman and Shazam trailers as well as stills from Wonder Woman all showing brighter colours over darker tones and the new trailer for Aquaman is no exception. Focusing a little more on the ‘training era’ of Arthur we see our first good look at Willem Dafoe plus more details supporting that the new film will follow the New 52/Geoff John’s run of Aquaman.
In the relaunch of many of DC Comics titles in 2012 following Flashpoint dubbed New 52 we saw Johns the current head honcho of the DC cinematic universe pickup Aquaman. This fantastic run (that we recommend you pick it up after you see Aquaman) included not a retelling of Aquaman’s origin but more addressing elements that made many see him as a joke character such as the talking to fish.
While the new film looks to fill in the blanks of the origin for Arthur we definitely feel that it is still going to somewhat follow the comics (and by extension the Justice League: Throne of Atlantis animated film). With such a solid base to go off, we are definitely in with all the trailers so far for this film shot at the Gold Coast making this look like a new DC in films too.
