This week sees the release of the latest boxed set for Warhammer 40,000. Wake the Dead will see forces of the Emperor’s finest do battle with the enigmatic Eldar over the planet Vigilus.
Not to be confused with the favourite Addams family halloween game, Wake the Dead returns to the world of Vigilus. This is the same setting as the previous boxed sets Tooth and Claw and Forgebane. Vigilus has seen a lot of action recently, apparently in the grim darkness of the future there IS only war…
As the Space Marines and the Aeldari factions in this box already have codexes, there won’t be any forthcoming codexes. That’s not to say that there’s nothing of interest here. The events in this boxed set follow on from Tooth and Claw, on a world that is vitally important to the Imperium.
Inside the box are two forces of miniatures, a rules foldout, and a booklet with all the info you need to play through the campaign. The Space Marine force contains 5 Primaris Intercessors, 5 Primaris Reivers, 3 Primaris Inceptors, and a brand new Primaris Lieutenant. The Aeldari miniatures are 10 Guardians, 5 Wraithguard, 1 Wave Serpent, and also a new Spiritseer.
This release is just ahead of the upcoming Orktober extravaganza. It focuses on the lore of the Warhammer 40,000 universe a century after the fall of Cadia. For any fluff buffs, or anyone looking to expand their army (or start a new one), Wake the Dead looks like a solid option.
Wake the Dead is available from Saturday October 6th.
