Star Wars Episode 9 Cast Announced

Unless you have been living on a moisture farm in the Outer Rim you already know that Star Wars Episode 9 is due out in December next year. While filming is already underway in London everything out of the set of Star Wars is a closely guarded secret, but over the weekend we got our first bit of official Episode IX news.

Before getting into it it, this is spoiler territory. If you want to go into Episode IX spoiler free then stop reading here and go check out some of our other non-Star Wars news. Still here? You’re braver than we thought.

The big news out of Lucasarts/Disney over the weekend is the confirmed casting details for the new Star Wars episode. While the announcement is limited to just the actors and not the characters they are playing we are fairly sure of the more iconic roles.

Returning for Episode IX is of course Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Isaac) in addition to General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), Rose (Marie Tran) and Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o). But more importantly we also have confirmation we will see Luke (Hamill) and Leia (Fisher) in Episode IX with Fisher to be drawn from unused scenes from The Last Jedi. They will be appearing along with…. *dramatic pause* Billy Dee Williams as Lando!

This is not the only spoiler we have, this is your double spoiler warning which includes some spectulation. If you really really want to have some surprises for Episode IX this is a good place to stop. No? Ok then we warned you.

Also joining the cast are Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, and Keri Russell who have not as yet been given any characters but will no doubt become known before the movie release next year. While we do not have any inkling as to the roles played by Ackie or Grant we were made aware of casting for the Expanded Universe Mara Jade for Episode IX some months ago and feel that Wonder Woman Voice/The American’s Keri Russell would be a perfect fit.

For the moment this is all speculation and we have over a year until we get to sit down in cinemas for the final chapter of the Skywalker saga. But be sure we will be bringing you all the official news as it comes to hand.

Star Wars Episode IX is currently set for Australian Cinemas release on December 19, 2019
