From Cloak and Dagger premiere on Foxtel to the Justice League at Madame Tussauds to Red Nose Day here is everything happening this Week in Geek across Australia.

1. Queensland

Wednesday

Happy National Sunnies Day! So break out the Raybans and do your best Elwood and Jake or Arnie impersonation.

From Wednesday (well technically from Monday) in Brisbane is the largest 2nd hand book festival in Queensland with the Lifeline Bookfest. Not just limited to books, expect board games, movies and more and running through to Sunday.

If you have Foxtel and were hanging out for the next season of Dominion to hit Australian TV series then Wednesday is your day with the second (and final) season premiering. Based on the 2010 film Legion, the Angel vs Demons series has definitely been cancelled in the US but there is still one more season for us here.

Thursday

In cinemas this Thursday take a break between Dinosaurs and Marvel movies with The Collector (Benicio Del Toro) and Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Sicario: Day of the Soldado -OR- if you need something for a younger audience, Samurai Jack/Dexter’s Lab creator Genndy Tartakovsky returns for a 3rd time with Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation.

Also in cinemas on Thursday at the Elizabeth St Theatre in Brisbane you can catch the Anime When Marnie Was There. This is playing as part of the Theatre’s Studio Ghibli programme every Thursday for the next few weeks.

Friday

This Friday is Red Nose Day across Australia. More than a reason to wear a silly red nose all day and pretend it’s normal it is also a day to raise money for SIDS and Stillbirth research and education. For more info head to the Red Nose Day official Site.

Spend a Night in the Museum at the Queensland Museum this Friday night in Brisbane. This rare event will have you roaming the halls of Egyptian Mummies exhibit well past your bed time. This is also a licensed event too so get your tickets from QTIX now.

Friday brings Season 2 of the Netflix Wrestling series GLOW. Based on the short-lived 80s show it follows Alison Brie as an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s who joins the world of women’s wrestling.

Also on Netflix this Friday is the full season of the new Netflix series, Kiss Me First. We don’t know too much about this except for it being more of a darker, more adult version of Ready Player One as it follows a young woman hooked on Virtual Reality.

Saturday

And Saturday is also International Asteroid Day! What do you do on International Asteroid Day? We don’t exactly know but maybe checking out your local Observatory before rewatching Bruce Willis in Armageddon sounds about right.

Sunday

Premiering Sunday on Foxtel is the newest Marvel TV series, Cloak and Dagger. We have already seen a preview of the first episode and if you liked what Marvel TV did for The Runaways then Cloak and Dagger definitely needs to be on your watch list.

Also on Sunday Movieworld on the Gold Coast goes Super-heroic with their Super-hero/Super-villain event running from Sunday until the 15th of July. Not only is there the usual Super-heroic fanfare but cosplay as your best Superhero or Villain and you might win the daily prize of $1000.

Come on and Jam at Netherworld in Brisbane this Sunday with NBA Jam 2v2 Playoffs. Up to 24 teams will be playing off for a $500 first prize so buy your ticket and register your team early to secure your space.

And while you are at Netherworld in Brisbane why not hang around for Two Bit Movie Club this week for a double feature of movies with ampersands including The Archer & The Sorceress and The Sword & the Sorcerer. It’s free and it’s kicking off at 7 PM.

Don’t forget  that Architecture and Anime meet with this unique exhibition in Sydney running until August 11th. Anime Architecture is exhibition traces the architectural world-building process of Japan’s most influential animated science fiction films. From Metropolis to Ghost in the Shell, you don’t have to go this Friday but it’s also on this Friday so why not.

The Justice League comes to Sydney on Saturday at Madame Tussauds. For a limited time visit Metropolis and Gotham to stand toe to toe with full scale replicas of Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman from the DCEU films. Tickets are available online now or at Madame Tussauds in Sydney from Saturday.

The Australian Boardgaming Tournament continues for the second (and final) week in Canberra this Saturday and Sunday as they search for the best Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride players ahead of the Australian Championships to be held in Sydney later this year. Tickets are open now to book your place but you must book to be eligible to compete.

Continuing at the Hoyts Entertainment Quarter in Sydney this Saturday catch the next session of the Gfinity Elite Series with CS:GO taking centre stage. Watch the Brisbane Deceptors, Sydney Roar, Perth Ground Zero, Melbourne Avant Gaming, Sydney Chiefs and Melbourne Order as they play off for this massive Counter Strike eSports event this  Saturday only.

Also in eSports, Are you a serious up and coming eSports player but not sure how to get to the next step? Sydney‘s Spawn Point is hosting an eSports meet and greet this Saturday with guests representing the ESL, The Chiefs, Dire Wolves and The Renegades. No plans this Saturday? Don’t forget that Marvel Avenger STATION is still in Federation Square in Melbourne but rapidly approaching it’s end which is now set to end July 15! This still doesn’t leave you a lot of time for this experience that gives you the skills you need to become a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in a post Infinity War world.
