Another week down and a weekend well earnt! How should you celebrate? With CosFriday of course! This week we say Hi to an awesome Cosplayer who you might even meet at OzComicCon Melbourne this weekend – Say Hi to AstroKerrie!
What’s your name & how old are you? Kerrie (AstroKerrie) 27
How long have you been cosplaying? Since 2007
What inspired you to start cosplaying? I first started cosplay when my cousin Ebony introduced me to it. She came across an anime convention in Perth called Wai-con and discovered it through there. We went together in our eBay bought, Final Fantasy costumes and were blown away by how amazing all the other cosplayers looked. That was in 2007 and we have never looked back.
What was your First Cosplay? My first cosplay was Rikku from FFX2 which I bought of ebay. After that I made Simca from Airgear and Kasumi from Street Fighter from my mums sheets haha!
What is your most recent cosplay? Brigitte from Overwatch <3 Shes such an amazing character. Im a huge fan of Shields and armour so when she came out I just had to make her.
What cosplays are you currently working on? Ciri from the Witcher 3. I’ve just finished her belt and its my first time casting and molding with products from Lumin’s Workshop and so far i’m really happy with the results.
Who are your favourite cosplayers in the community? This is a hard question because so many people inspire me.
Generally I love following people who put a lot of work into their craft and focus on the craftsmanship. But i also love people who celebrate what I love about cosplay and thats the community. People who help raise people up and spread positive vibes. Some people who come to mind is Henchwench, Scrap Shop Props, Piltover City Customs, AmenoKitarou (A.K. Wirru), Vera Chimera, PikaPi, Kirilee Cosplay..
Oh my goodness I could go on all day haha!
Who else do you want to cosplay? Literally every character from the Witcher 3 and Diablo.
Tell us an odd fact about yourself! The scar on my eyebrow is real. I hit my head as a kid (Explains a lot haha) and I’ve had a scar ever since.
Once I asked my partner what his favourite part of my face was, he said my scar because it makes me look cool. I’ve stopped covering it with make-up and started showing it off more after that.
