With the massive Avengers Infinity War hits cinemas, Supanova continues to Brisbane and International Tabletop this weekend you definitely will not be short for plans. Here is everything happening across Australia this Week in Geek.

1. Queensland

Friday

Got Foxtel? Love the LEGO Movie but disappointed in every scene which does not include Unikitty? Rejoice as Unikitty get’s her own animated show starting on Cartoon Network. Expect sparkles, rainbows and dance parties on Friday.

On the Gold Coast but a bit early for Supanova? As part of the Gold Coast Film Festival this Friday and Saturday night you can get your anime fix with Anime in the Mall at the Broadbeach Mall. Friday night watch Howl’s Moving Castle and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time with more on Saturday. Check the official site for the full programme.

Looking for something from the GOMA curious affection programme? How about a robotic bunny from possibly another dimension with Donnie Darko? Get your tickets ahead of time for the weekend or at the box office this Friday in Brisbane.

Saturday

International Tabletop Day is the perfect time for BrisCon 2018 this Saturday and Sunday in Brisbane. This two day event is Brisbane’s biggest annual Table Top Gaming event with Tournaments, Demos, Vendors and more.

Supanova returns to the Gold Coast for 2018 this Weekend! Officially starting on Friday night but open to all on Saturday. You don’t really need us telling you what it is all about but this year there is a massive amount of guests including Smallville’s Tom Wellings and Doctor Who’s Peter Capaldi to name just a few on top of all the collectables, vendors and cosplay you could possibly want.

The Gold Coast Film Festival events continue this weekend and on Saturday and Sunday you can check out some unique story telling with Virtual Reality showcase. Happening almost all day you can be immersed in one of 8 different VR driven tales.

Also on Saturday and still with the Gold Coast Film Festival, if you are only visiting for the weekend you can join a unique opportunity to check out the filming locations. Thor Ragnarok, Kong: Skull Island and Pirates of the Caribbean 5 are just some of the recent locally made big budget Hollywood movies shooting locations you can be taken on a tour of to get the most of your Gold Coast weekend.

The night of the living dead is upon us again with the annual Zombie Walk at the Gold Coast Night Quarter this Saturday. With live music and food on top of Zombie FX makeup stations make this a truly unique night markets.

And to cap off your Saturday, the first rule about Brewery Night‘s film screening is to not talk about it, which is going to make it pretty hard to get word out. But atleast you know you can watch the classic Fight Club at Burleigh Brewing on the Gold Coast with Food Trucks and craft brewing to boot.

Sunday

Start your Supanova Sunday off early with the Superhero Parade on the Gold Coast. With a collection of Pop Culture vehicles, cosplayers and Supanova guests will march through Broadbeach on their way to the Gold Coast Convention Centre, and it’s entirely free.

Not making your way to Supanova? How about you go fly a kite instead at the Brisbane Kite Festival this Sunday. This is a free event and lets you marvel at some awesome kites and maybe inspire you to pickup or make one of your own.

And if you need a dose of Disney for your Sunday the GOMA Curious Affection comes to the rescue with the original 1967 animated Jungle Book. It’s playing this Sunday at the GOMA Cinema in Brisbane.

2. New South Wales & ACT

Friday in Canberra ComicFest is on again for 2018. This one day event celebrates everything fandom. With local artist alley, cosplay competions and some Marvel Trivia to follow your 23rd time seeing Infinity War this week at this one day event at the Queanbeyan-Palerang Libraries.

Saturday

Sunday

Enjoy the music of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy with this live performance by Russian born classically trained pianist Natalya Aynsley. Celebrating 30 years of Final Fantasy and 15 years of Kingdom Hearts this one night only performance in Sydney is a must of fans of Square Enix.

3. Victoria & Tasmania

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra brings you an epic Studio Ghibi performance starting this Thursday with Studio Ghibi in Concert. Performing alongside films such as Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away to name a few these limited performances are running through to Sunday with tickets still available.

Friday

20 of the top PUBG Teams have been gathered in Melbourne this weekend to play for a total prize pool of $15,000 AUD. Teams from Australia, China and Southeast Asia will go head to head in this invitational and if you can get to the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre then you can be part of the audience as it starts on Friday and runs through to Sunday.

The BETA Bar is letting you hunt down the Infinity Stones this Friday for their Infinity War Party in Melbourne. Find the Infinity Stones in the Bar to win free drinks and as always your best Marvel Cosplay is encouraged.

BAM9 might be long past but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out keeping your tournament skills sharp with Couchwarrior’s April event this Saturday in Melbourne. In Melbourne you can head to the opening of Melbourne’s newest Batcave of Cosplay awesome with Club Cosplay. You can pickup tickets for this 18+ event this Saturday and get more information via MoshTix but we can tell you that Cosplay is not optional.

Never give up! Never Surrender this Sunday at Cinema Nova in Melbourne for a special screening of Galaxy Quest. As the perfect addition to the upcoming sci-fi space films soon to be shown at the Cinema Nova you will definitely want to pickup tickets for this.

Head to the Adelaide Comic and Toy Fair this Saturday at the Adelaide German Club. Even if you aren’t headed there for the toys there are plenty of comics too and a local Artist’s Alley for you to find some new favourites.

SideQuest 64 is the Future Sound fundraiser for the Starlight Foundation happening this Saturday in Adelaide. With more than a little focus on some live performances from bands to get you in a gaming music mood you can also have your chance to win the Super Smash Bros. hand crafted tournament trophy.

Also on Saturday for one performance only rewatch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with accompaniments by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Playing the epic score from John Williams this performance will let you watch the film in a way you wish you could see every movie.

It’s an Epic Cosplay Friday in Perth this week with Respawn teaming up with Zing/EB Games for a massive Cosplay Fundraiser for the Starlight Foundation. All proceeds taken on entry during the night will be donated to the Starlight Foundation so don your best Cosplay and head to the party.
