Fans of the Vermont Highway Patrol will be happy for their return in Super Troopers 2 hitting Australian cinema screens. Want another reason to go see it? The film was only made thanks to fan funding on Indiegogo. Raising $4.6 million US in 2015 and now heading to the big screen, this gives us hope for that Serenity sequel.

Foxtel subscribers will be the first to see the latest X-Men Universe Fox TV series with The Gifted on Thursday. Set in the same universe as the current run X-Men films don’t expect any spoilers for the upcoming Dark Phoenix flick but definitely will get you your mutant fix.

Friday

Better do some stretching because it’s International High Five Day this Friday! The annual day not to leave any one hanging, high five your Friends! Pets! Strangers! Ok maybe not Strangers… unless you want them to be your new High Five Friends!

Before the Rocketeer Jennifer Connelly starred opposite Bowie as the Goblin King in Labyrinth and this Friday you can catch it on the big screen at the Elizabeth Cinemas in Brisbane. This screening is more than just a movie with prizes and giveaways for you to look your best and even hit some high notes with 80s Karaoke on the big screen before the movie.

Sweet Georgia Brown! Currently holding 17 Guinness Records and a team-up with Scooby Doo the legendary Harlem Globetrotters are doing a limited tour of Australia and this Friday they are in Brisbane. Tickets are currently available via Ticketek, no confirmation on if they will be solving any mysteries involving haunted Amusement Parks.

And lastly for those in Rockhampton get to the Rockhampton North Even Cinemas for argueably one of the best action movies ever made, Terminator 2. This one screening only session is the updated 3D edition released initially last year, if you missed it then don’t miss it this Friday.

Saturday

BrisBricks is heading to Mt Gravatt Showgrounds for a one day LEGO Exhibition this Saturday. This event showcasing the best of the Brisbane LEGO Community has displays and no shortage of vendors to also maybe help you find that rare set.

Netherworld’s Arcade Club is all about the Neo Geo with Bubble Bobble’s Puzzle Bobble. After learning the tips and tricks of the game stick around for the 8 round tournament with a limited edition pin for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place this Saturday in Brisbane.

Sunday

Sunday GOMA’s catch a screening of Del Toro’s trip down the rabbit hole with Pan’s Labyrinth. This trippy film from the guy behind Hellboy 2, Pacific Rim and the Shape of Water answers the question what if Jim Henson did a lot of LSD and it’s on this Sunday in Brisbane.

2. New South Wales & ACT

Wednesday

Starting Wednesday and running through to Sunday the Rowany Festival is on this week in Camp Wombaroo outside of Bowral. With all things Medieval from Arts & Science to Warfare (to watch and partake) dust off your best chain mail and get along.

Can’t wait for the Infinity War team-up next week? The 1989 Bar in Sydney are getting you covered early with the original team-up event Marvel vs Capcom. The third tournament for 2018 this Arcade elimination tournament is happening this Thursday night.

Looking for Thursday night gaming in Canberra? The Reload Bar is having a Tekken 7 Tournament open to all comers in a double elimination format. With prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd this is playing for some serious coin. Make sure you register ahead of time to ensure your spot.

Fans of all things Metal will want to be in Lithgow for Iron Fest 2018! Celebrating everything metal with Artists, Blacksmiths and more, if you are into medieval, steampunk or anything in between this event running Saturday and Sunday is for you.

This Saturday and Sunday Sydney‘s largest LEGO fan event The Sydney Brickshow is going for a world record for LEGO minifigs and you can see it for yourself. And if you haven’t already, enter to win one of two double passes we are giving away to the show!

Calling all Zombies in, near or can get to the Cootamundra region! Sydney based Indie film maker Ultratumba Films is looking for volunteer Zombies to be in their latest production this weekend. Check the full event post for more details including wardrobe and more.

Wednesday

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival continues this week for you to catch James Veitch talking about Donkey Kong and Time Travel this Wednesday (and a few other date). Appearing at the Melbourne Comedy Festival after shows at the Adelaide Fringe get a ticket for our favourite SPAM replying TEDTalker.

Also finishing this week at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, catch some Harry Potter themed comedy with Unplotted Potter. Thursday night is the next time you can catch this show but there are other performances if you need to work it into your schedule.

Also this week don’t forget that Marvel Avenger STATION is still in Federation Square in Melbourne. Running through to June this experience gives you the skills you need to become a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in the lead up to Infinity War.

Looking for some Melbourne Comedy Festival geeky goodness? On Thursday you can get to Completely Improvised Potter, for a serving of polyjuice with a hint of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named for this show bringing you some fresh new adventures from Hogwarts.

Also as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival you can watch Flight of the Concords/Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi’s Vampire Mockumentary – What We Do in the Shadows. Playing at Melbourne’s newest Independent the Thornbury Picture House get your ticket early because this is definitely going to sell out. UPDATE: This has sold out. Told ya.

Supanova kicks off for 2018 starting in Melbourne! You don’t need us to tell you what Supanova is with it’s huge number of guests (like the 12th Doctor), cosplay, vendors and more. It starts this Friday and runs all weekend long! Grab your tickets online or at the door but if you want one of the VIP passes they go fast.

It’s bad cosplay night at the BETA Bar this Friday night for your chance to win a Nintendo Labo kit to go with your Nintendo Switch. Even if you don’t win on the night you can still get a hands on with the set as you enjoy some of the BETA Bar’s signature cocktails as you slide into a Supanova weekend in Melbourne.

And just one more thing for Friday in Melbourne.. Every Friday Night until June is an after hours night for the Melbourne Planetarium. This 18+ event will let you pickup a drink from the Planetarium bar and then take you through the night sky. Booking is essential.

Saturday

The LEGO Discovery Centre turns One this Saturday and to celebrate they are having another one of their Adult Nights this weekend in Melbourne. This kid free event lets you challenge the master builders and has just a few build competitions for prizes too. Because who doesn’t want to spend their Saturday night surrounded by LEGO.

When a young prince witnesses his parents being done in a back alley by a troupe of roving minstrels, he sets on a path of revenge that results in him dressing as a bat. It’s Batman, but just a bit more Shakespearean in Much Ado About Batman as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival this Saturday (and some other dates too).

Gameshow of Thrones is the mash up you have always wanted with Game of Thrones themed challenges meeting with Melbourne Comedy Festival Comedians. Watch the vicious comedy battle on Saturday.

DC vs Marvel! Batman vs Superman! New 52 vs. Pre 52! This Saturday the Great Super Hero Debate wraps up at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. This show from the UK and following on from a season at the Adelaide Fringe touches on everything Avengers, X-Men, Justice League and everything in between.

Sunday

The Game Boys continue with their new show for the Melbourne Comedy Festival, the Wide World of eSports. This eSports centric show brings you live to the Windows 3.1 stadium for the Elympics of the XLIX Olympiad. It’s your last chance to see this show before the end of the festival, so why not pickup a ticket for Sunday.
