Brisbane’s GOMA Cinema has a monstrous double feature this Friday for it’s curious affection film program with your choice of the original 1931 Frankenstein or the most recent Oscar winning Shape of Water. Pickup your tickets online or at the box office.

Saturday

This Saturday CapriCon descends on Rockhampton once again. This one day only annual Steampunk and Pop Culture Con is happening at the Rockhampton Regional Library for everything Cosplay and local Vendors. We love regional cons so if you are in the area make sure you support this one!

Want to continue your monster movie weekend at Brisbane’s GOMA? This Saturday see The Lobster, set in a dystopian future where people have 45 days to find a mate else be changed into an animal of their choice. Sounds like the perfect date movie for a Saturday.

Still working on your life size scale Ghostbusters Firehouse made entirely out of LEGO but running out of bricks? Brickresales is hosting another meet with the best of local LEGO vendors in Brisbane this Sunday for all things minifig.

Need a monster movie trifecta with the GOMA curious affection program? How about a robotic bunny from possibly another dimension with Donnie Darko? Get your tickets ahead of time for the weekend or at the box office this Sunday in Brisbane.

Wrapping up your Sunday in Brisbane at Netherworld it’s Two Bit Movie Club. This week catch the double feature of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 (the time travel one) and Three Ninjas III. That’s a lot of Ninjas.

Sword Quest 2018 continues this week near Ballarat. This week long Live Action Role Play event with LARPers from all over Australia kicked off on Sunday but there is still time for you to join in before it ends on Sunday.

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival continues this week for you to catch James Veitch talking about Donkey Kong and Time Travel this Wednesday (and a few other date). Appearing at the Melbourne Comedy Festival after shows at the Adelaide Fringe get a ticket for our favourite SPAM replying TEDTalker.

It’s AICon 2018 this weekend in Hobart this weekend for Tasmania’s longest running Pop Culture focused festival. This year’s festival is Supernatural themed with fairies, angels, demons and more on top of all the usual Pop Culture goodness from Cosplay to Gaming. Friday Night is a BETA Bar night for all things Studio Ghibli for their Studio Ghibli Party. Like always dressing in themed Cosplay will get you cheaper entry for all the signature drinks and gaming all night in Melbourne.

And just one more thing for Friday in Melbourne.. Every Friday Night until June is an after hours night for the Melbourne Planetarium. This 18+ event will let you pickup a drink from the Planetarium bar and then take you through the night sky. Booking is essential.

Saturday

Also this weekend (and running until the 29th of April) Brickman Awesome is the LEGO certified Brickman’s latest exhibition. At the Melbourne Museum this exhibition uses 450,000 bricks in a variety of displays for you to check out. Get your tickets from the official website.

Did you know that Zombies are allergic to foam? Get your Z-Day prepping done with some HvZ in Melbourne this Saturday. Hosted by Humans Vs Zombies Melbourne, break out your Nerf arsenal and don’t forget your eye protection for this classic style of Nerf game play.

DC vs Marvel! Batman vs Superman! New 52 vs. Pre 52! This Saturday it is time for the Great Super Hero Debate at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. This show from the UK and following on from a season at the Adelaide Fringe touches on everything Avengers, X-Men, Justice League and everything in between.

Want some Mystery Science Theatre style comedy at the Melbourne Comedy Festival? This Saturday (and the next few) you can join Comedians Talking Over Movies, which movies? We don’t know! But you can find out on Saturday.

Looking for this week’s In the House at Adelaide‘s GU Film House? Try the 1R Rated cult classic (and the basis of comic spin offs and some video games), The Warriors. Set in a near future (future for 1979) this street gang this film was once considered so violent that the distributor Paramount even stopped all marketing for the film. Catch it this Friday.

Want some classic Mary Shelley with this stage production of Frankenstein this Saturday. Watch some of the work from one of the first fandoms and feel classy while you do it in Adelaide.
