Beginning of a new month…. That gives us 4 more Fridays!! So! Let’s buckle up and hold on for this weeks CosFriday! This young lady is the 2nd half of the World Cosplay Summit Australian Team for 2018!  This weeks CosFriday and Kirilee Cosplay are representing the Aussies at the WCS 2018 in Japan! You Go Girls!

Coming to us from the Western seaboard in the City of Light in Western Australia (Perth FYI – a lot of people don’t know this…) is Giorgia from Giorgia Costumes! Giorgia is an avid fan of all things pop-culture, sci-fi, fantasy and anime! Which is super cool with us!

What’s your name & how old are you? My name is Giorgia, and I am 31

How long have you been cosplaying? I’ve been a cosplayer since 2003, which makes this my fifteenth year of cosplaying (holy mackarel!)

What inspired you to start cosplaying? Being a huge anime and manga fan, I was keen to attend a convention. I’d always been a very crafty person, so I wanted to try my hand at making a costume for the convention to hang out with my friends with. It sort of snowballed from there, and I found a true passion for sewing and costume making.

In 2015 I actually graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) with a degree in costume for live production and theater, bringing my skills up even higher. Before, all of my sewing techniques were self-taught, but now I have actual experience to know what I’m doing wrong.

What was your First Cosplay? My very first cosplay was Edward Elric from ‘Fullmetal

Alchemist’. Even though I had never sewn something in my life, I thought it would be a cool challenge to also make his automail arm. For a first-timer, I still think it was a pretty cool thing to try!

What is your most recent cosplay? My most recent one would have to be my Nurse Joy from Pokemon. It’s a simple costume, but also a very cute design!

What cosplays are you currently working on? I’m currently working on my World Cosplay Summit final costume, as myself and my best friend Kirilee are the Australian 2018 representatives, and we’ll be heading over to Japan later on in the year to compete!

Who are your favourite cosplayers in the community? Aw jeez, that’s a toughie of a question! I have a TON of people I admire, but my top ones are: Kirilee Cosplay, Asham Cosplay, Major Sam Cosplay, Henchwench, AmenoKitarou, Astrokerrie Cosplay, Flocksy Locksy, Histoiri, K Cosplay, Alycesca, Thendm Cosplay, Kayla Jean Cosplay, Taigakunn Art & Cosplay, JusZ Cosplay and ANDYCAMcosplay.

I guess that’s just a short list – there’s so many other wonderful, talented people out there, it’s impossible to name them all!

Who else do you want to cosplay? My list is endless and ongoing haha. I love making big, elaborate and beautiful things, so I definitely want to try my hand at Sakizo designs. I’d also like to try remaking my Queen Esther Blanchett from ‘Trinity Blood’, especially now that I have actual costume academy training under my belt and I know a lot more.

Tell us an odd fact about yourself! I love the colour pink and anything small and cute-looking.
