1. Queensland

Wednesday

All those hours of binge watching Simpsons repeats are finally going to pay off with Simpsons Trivia Night at the Defiant Duck in Brisbane. Free trivia at Wednesday night wings special sounds like everything you need to get over the midweek hump.

Thursday

What up my Glip Glops! This Thursday in Brisbane you can get to the best trivia night in dimension C-137 at the Black Bear Lodge with Rick and Morty Trivia. Demonstrate your knowledge of the one true Morty to win some prizes, just make sure you register first.

Friday

This Friday in Brisbane Damn the Man and Save the Empire with a double feature of Risky Business back to back with Empire Records at the Metro Arts Theatre. Go for one or both (or turn up a bit later for an Empire Records/The Shining double feature) but anyone heading to the Empire Records screening might end up with a special Rex Manning Day surprise.

Saturday

Love discovering new games before any of your friends? Vault Games in Brisbane has the event for you this Saturday with the Research and Development night. Checkout in development table top games and give feedback straight to the makers as you get to try out the best of what’s next.

Sunday

And rounding out your weekend in Brisbane Netherworld’s Two-Bit Cinema Club gives you double the Barbarian with Krull and Conquest playing back to back. If you’re weekend was sorely missing out on Sorcery and Swordplay this should sort you out.

2. New South Wales & ACT

Wednesday

The Newtown Hotel in Sydney continues it’s Cult Cinema this Thursday with Wall-E. Screening during happy hour so you can get your $4 pizza on, what more can you want from your Thursday night.

Friday

Starting Friday and running right through to Sunday is the Australian Comic Arts Festival. If you are an independent creator looking to hone your craft or make contacts in the Industry this event is for you. If you aren’t a creator you can still get along on Sunday for the open comic market where some of the creators will be showing their wares if you have the coin. It’s happening all weekend long in Canberra.

Saturday

The latest Han Solo teaser got you in a Star Wars kinda mood? This Saturday is your last chance to re-watch The Last Jedi at the Sunset Cinema in Sydney. Bring a rug or beanbag (or hire them there) for this outdoor cinema in North Sydney Oval.

3. Victoria & Tasmania

Wednesday

Thursday

As The Rock’s Jumanji sequel hits another week at #1 in the US catch the original at the Rooftop Cinema. Playing this Thursday Night in Melbourne for one screening only, so roll the dice and head along this week.

Friday

It’s a big weekend in VIC/TAS this week so it’s ok to take it easy on Friday but if there is something awesome on we missed or you want to make sure we get in future, drop us a line.

Saturday

It in Sydney last week and now it’s Melbourne’s turn with Walker StalkerCon happens in this Saturday and Sunday in Melbourne with everything the Walking Dead. Touring across Australia this event brings you dozens of stars from the series (including Yondu himself Michael Rooker), zombie escape rooms, vendors and more.

Also on Saturday if you are still hunting down that missing McGuffin from your Fandom collection and in Melbourne, then the Swap and Geek is the newest Geek Swap Meet for your calendar. Held at the Malvern Townhall this Saturday the event will have vendors, cosplay competitions and video gaming.. just like the big cons but travel size.

Miss the last TarantinoFest? The Astor Theatre in Melbourne is doing it again with 8 Tarantino films back to back starting with Reservoir Dogs to the Hateful Eight in 70mm. There is even a 45 breakfast intermission on Sunday after Kill Bill Vol 1 to get yourself some $5 shakes. Grab your tickets while they are still available.

The Melbourne IMAX is having another one of their epic sci-fi rescreenings with the Nolan Interstellar playing this Saturday night on the IMAX 1570 Projector. There is only one session of this screening so make sure you pickup your tickets now.

Sunday

Are you a fan of Zines and other independent publishing? The Festival of the Photocopier is on this Sunday in Melbourne to celebrate all things Zine. This annual event is massive with over 250 stalls planned and to be held at the Melbourne Town Hall this Sunday.

4. South Australia & Northern Territory

Wednesday

Thursday

Adelaide‘s Pop Club have setup their new permanent One Shot RPG night and it’s this Thursday. If you are new to role playing games or an old hand but prefer to keep things casual this once off event might be the right level of commitment for you.

Friday

Friday nights need more food trucks and Pixar? Then the Adelaide City Council’s screening of Inside Out is what you need. This free event kicks off at 6 PM but the movie doesn’t start til 8:30 which gives you plenty of time to get some food truck snackage.

Saturday

The first rule of Scrabble club is… Probably something about a triple word score and words with more than one X. We don’t really know but if you are a master wordsmith you can find out at the Scrabble Tournament at the Duke in Adelaide this Saturday. This event builds up to the finals at the end of the year so if you missed out last time this is your chance.

Been twitching for some LAN play with your Nintendo Switch since you picked up the latest Splatoon? The Pop Cult this Saturday is holding a Splatoon Day with this casual event. So charge your Switch and bring your dock and meet some other squids in Adelaide.

Sunday

The Adelaide Fringe Festival starts next week so why not take advantage of this chill Sunday and charge up. Unless you are doing something awesome you want to tell everyone about in the comments down below!

5. Western Australia

Wednesday

Damn the Man and Save the Empire this Wednesday Night with a screening of Empire Records in the Fringe World Pop Up Cinema. It might not be Rex Manning Day (yet) but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate it in Perth.

Are you a force to be reckoned with in Super Smash Bros? Then take some time out of your busy schedule to show everyone how it’s done at the Escape Portal in Perth for their BigWinSmash Doubles Tournament this Wednesday. This is a ranking based doubles tournament so even if you dont have the ranking to play you can always team up with someone who does.

Thursday

Do you know your Accio spell from your Priori Incantatem? Then you will likely triumph in this wizard cup of trivia. With free registration and Butterbeer cocktails, grab your house mates (pun intended) and get along to the Gate in Perth this Thursday.

Fringe World Popup Cinema continues this week following up last nights Empire Records with What We Do in the Shadows. Co-Directed by Flight of the Concords Jemaine Clement and Thor Ragnorok’s Taika Waititi this Vampire Mockumentary is definitely worth your Thursday night if you are in Perth.

Thursday night is Games Night at the Pirate Bar in Perth. So if you just need to get out of the house or need some rum to stay off a bought of scurvy the house specials and 8-bit game classics might be just what you need.

Friday

Valentine’s Day isn’t until next week but you can get your sexy science on this week with the Dome Date Night at Scitech Planetarium. Bring a date (or don’t if your true love is the stars) and enjoy this event as part of Fringe World 2018 in Perth.

Need to refine your Nerf handling skills for the next time Zedtown comes around? The Perth Fortress Youth are holding an all out Nerf War this Friday night in a Church conveniently located in the middle of Perth City. This is BYO Nerf Gun and ammo so gear up.

Saturday

Love the Perth independent game developer scene? Then check out some of the newest creations from the latest Global Game Jam! Open to the public this Saturday at the Nostalgia Box in Perth expect to see teams from the Jam showing off their latest creations for you to play. This is an all ages event with tickets are still available.

Not enough Anime for you this week? Join the Japanese Animation Fan club this Saturday at the Collins Street community centre in Perth to enjoy some random grabs of Japanese Animation. What’s on this week? You will have to join to find out.

Sunday

Looking for something to do for your Sunday in WA? There is still tons going on at Fringe World! Catch some Studio Ghibli Films or maybe you prefer comedians playing Cards against Humanity. The festival runs until the 25th so expect a lot events.
