Happy CosFriday everybody! This week we catch up with Sydney based Cosplayer, SMASH! winner and 2017 World Cosplay Summit guest Alice of Spades!
What’s your name & how old are you? Alix, 23.
How long have you been cosplaying? I’ve just hit eight years in this incredible community, although I only really got into the hobby during university, four years ago.
What inspired you to start cosplaying? A high school friend was OBSESSED with Dragon Ball Z and asked me to come with her to meet Christopher Sabat (English voice of Vegeta) at Supanova, Sydney. We made our own horrendous cosplays and I haven’t stopped since!
What was your First Cosplay? My first cosplay was Tohru Honda (Fruits Basket).
What is your most recent cosplay? A secret to be unveiled at the 2017 World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan! It’s been so hard not to tell the world what I’ve been working on, but hopefully, my partner and I will do Australia proud! The most recent cosplay I’ve worn is Keith from Voltron.
What cosplays are you currently working on? Apart from my WCS cosplay, I’m still working on priestess Yui (Fushigi Yugi) and Namine (Kingdom Hearts).
Who are your favourite cosplayers in the community? I’m having so much trouble narrowing down my list, so I’m going to be basic and go with Senra and Tsubaki. The former being my WCS partner and the latter my manager.
Who else do you want to cosplay? Suki (Avatar) has been on my list for years, so I’m really keen to start her! I also want to make Cendrellion Miku because I have a really cool skit idea in mind.
Tell us an odd fact about yourself! I have five names made up of fifteen syllables. People actually laughed when my name was called out at graduation last year…
