Harry Potter, Transformers, LEGO and Space Jam. If at least one of those doesn’t get you excited for what is on this weekend we don’t know what will!

1. Queensland

Wednesday

Been to the MCU Exhibit at GOMA in Brisbane yet? Excellent then you are all primed for MCU Trivia Part 1 Wednesday Night also at GOMA! Demonstrate your Watcher like knowledge of the MCU? Win prizes? If you yelled yes to all of these questions register to grab a ticket now (Except Part 2 will be next week!)

Thursday

Looking for something to watch? If you are a Pixar fan then you can catch Cars 3 (now with 100% more Nathan Fillion) in cinemas across the country from Thursday! Alternatively, if Michael Bay action films are your guilty pleasure Transformers: The Last Knight is also in cinemas on the same day. If you can’t decide, check back on Thursday for our reviews on both!

Friday

Staying in Friday night for some wrestling? WE can’t tell you what is happening in WWE but if you are a fan of Alison Brie from Mad Man/Community then you may like GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) as the full season drops on Netflix on Friday.

Saturday

Are you in Brisbane? Do you collect Retro games and consoles? Then you need to go to Brisbane‘s largest Retro gaming market. Seriously, we went to this earlier in the year and there is an insane amount of stuff to be had. Definitely, go check it out (and take cash).

We don’t normally mention cosplay meets but the Cairns Cosplay Club are doing something a bit unique to tie into the 20th Anniversary of Harry Potter with the event at QBD Bookshop. And be honest, your old copy of The Philosopher’s Stone is looking a bit dog-eared. Might be time to get a new fancy copy.

If you find yourself on the Gold Coast on Saturday and a fan of all things LEGO the Brickman Experience starts and runs until the 8th of July. Trust us, there is some pretty amazing LEGO set pieces on display as put together by the only builder who has been officially LEGO certified in the Southern Hemisphere.

Also on the Gold Coast (and near the official LEGO store too) Dreamworld are having a Park after Dark event for one night only. So if you normally ride roller coasters with your eyes closed, why not do it when it’s dark so you can keep them open?

Sunday

It’s all about the jam at Netherworld in Brisbane with an NBA Jam tournament running all day Sunday. This is a bracketed 2v2 competition with a cash prize so if you want to play you definitely need to pre-register.

If you want to celebrate your NBA win you can kick on at Netherworld in Brisbane for Two-Bit Cinema Club Sunday with a double feature of Space Jam and Airbud. Because it’s always time for Space Jam.

2. New South Wales & ACT

Wednesday

Wednesday Night is Free Play Mortal Kombat (and Wonder Boy) night for Sydney‘s 1989 Bar. Why are we telling you? Because think of all the money you can save to spend on drinks and nachos while still being able to rip your friend’s still beating heart from their chest!

But if you prefer to have your wits matched maybe the Hudson Ballroom in Sydney can satisfy that with Sherlock trivia on Wednesday. Much like other nights at the Hudson Ballroom, trivia night is free and while there are a lot of prizes on offer clearly you are just going to win that Sherlock hat.

Friday

If you don’t have any plans on Friday and can get to Newcastle you may want to buy some tickets to Empire Coffee’s Star Wars trivia night. If the lure of impressing others with your in-depth knowledge of Star Wars related lore wasn’t enough the awesome ArtFX 1:1 helmet that you could win definitely should be. (Bonus Round – If you can’t make it on Friday, Empire Coffee are also running a competition from now until August where if you buy 4 breakfasts between now and competition end you could win one of two special Star Wars kits)

Staying in Friday night for some wrestling? WE can’t tell you what is happening in WWE but if you are a fan of Alison Brie from Mad Man/Community then you may like GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) as the full season drops on Netflix on Friday.

Saturday

It doesn’t matter if you are Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin or Gryffindor all are welcome this Saturday at Sydney‘s Spawn Point small bar for their Harry Potter House Party! Expect free admission, potions, video games and lots of ‘Accio Drinks’.

Saturday night is the night for game 4 of the Canberra Roller Derby League with the Red Bellied Black Hearts takes on the Black ‘n’ Blue Belles. If you have no idea what any of that means then you should grab some tickets and check it out, it might become your new favourite thing.
