E3 is nearly here, this year’s E3 appears to be bigger than ever, and there are many reasons to be excited. Officially running from June 13 to June 15 E3 has steadily grown into a week-long event.

With so much to cover and show from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, as well as games publishers like EA, Ubisoft and Bethesda all with pre-E3 events, this is your guide to how to get the most out of E3 here in Australia.

With so much happening, we will update this guide as we learn anything new to improve your E3 experience.

1. Electronic Arts

Official E3 Site | Sunday, June 11, 5:00 a.m. AEST, watch it via Youtube

EA is the first cab off the rank and we are expecting a lot of Star Wars Battlefront 2 hype. There have already been some teasers of Theed Palace maps but we are just expecting to see a lot more (including hopefully some more PSVR tie in).

Also interesting with EA who this year are hosting EA Play 2017 fan event to create a party atmosphere with their booth is the inclusion of Nintendo Switch into their lineup. Previously EA has been famous for abandoning Nintendo with their Wii-U due to lack of poor hardware sales, but with FIFA on Switch could we see a resurgence of support for the Switch by EA?

Expect to see:

  • Star Wars Battlefront II
  • FIFA 18
  • Madden NFL 18
  • NBA Live 18
  • Need for Speed Payback
  • The Sims Mobile and The Sims 4
  • Battlefield 1 Expansion – In the Name of Tsar DLC
  • Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes content
  • Titanfall 2
  • Madden NFL Mobile
  • NBA Live Mobile
  • FIFA on Nintendo Switch

2. Microsoft

Official E3 Site | Monday, June 12, 7:00 a.m. AEST, watch it via Mixer (in 4k)

There is no doubt that a lot of Microsoft’s presentation will centre around hardware, specifically the anticipated Xbox Scorpio. In fact, you can guarantee how much time will be spent on hardware based on the Microsoft briefing actually being made long this year so

they can include more games like Sea of Thieves, the ambitious new procedurally-generated pirate MMO for Windows and Xbox One, which sounds like fun.

Microsoft is also having streaming parties with one at the Microsoft Store in Sydney! Streaming via their new Mixer service, stores will also be holding local tournaments on Forza Motorsport 6 for prizes on top the giveaways during the main event.

Expect to see:

  • Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
  • Battalion 1944
  • Call of Cthulu
  • Call of Duty: World War II
  • Crackdown 3
  • The Crew 2
  • Day of Decay 2
  • Darksiders III
  • Destiny 2
  • Dirt 4
  • Fable Fortune
  • Forza 7
  • FIFA 18
  • F1 2017
  • Gigantic
  • Insurgency: Sandstorm
  • Madden NFL 18
  • Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite

Microsoft will be holding daily live shows to give updates on their events. The Xbox Daily: Live @ E3 will be happening daily on Twitch, YouTube and Facebook Live:

3. Bethesda

Official Site | Monday, June 12, 2:00 p.m. AEST, watch it via YouTube

A lot of last year was about Fallout 4 so we aren’t quite as sure what to expect this year, especially considering a major event is still planned with global events such as a local Stream Party in Sydney for those lucky enough to have scored a ticket (We know! We missed out too!). Maybe it will be all about Skyrim on the Switch.

Expect to see:

  • Elder Scrolls Legends
  • Quake Champions

As mentioned with Microsoft, we can also expect to see a lot of online sales from Xbox and Playstation timed with their major press conferences, right now you can get up to 60% off Fallout 4 season passes for PS4.

4. Ubisoft

Official E3 Site | Tuesday, June 13, 6:00 a.m. AEST, watch it via YouTube

Last year we were all super excited to see the San Francisco from a new Watchdogs, this year they are back in step with a new Assassins Creed game expected to drop, Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Which if any of the leaks are to believed may have some Ancient Egypt related settings.

We are absolutely certain that we will see a lot of hands on with Far Cry 5 with the date already being announced for next year. Most likely demonstrating the new two-player co-operative campaign and the introduction of fixed-wing aircraft into the series with a new setting in rural Montana.

Expect to see:

  • New Assassins Creed
  • Far Cry 5
  • The Crew 2
  • Southpark: The Fractured but whole

During E3 The Division, Steep and Trials Fusion are all offered as free to play via the Ubisoft official site.

5. Sony

Official E3 Site | Tuesday, June 13, 11:00 a.m. AEST, watch it via PlayStation Live

Insomiacs Spider-Man! More God of War! Uncharted! To say we were a little excited for the PlayStation brief is a bit of an understatement. We already know that a large amount of PSVR games are to be showcased (Battlefront 2 PSVR fingers crossed) but the big question is will there be a surprise piece of hardware announced.

Sony has the most space on the E3 floor plan with double the size of the Microsoft/Xbox booth, we think this has less to do with being open to the public and more likely daily updates and some sort of viewing lounge stream from their booth via the PlayStation Live site.

Expect to see:

  • Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
  • Assassin’s Creed: Origins (rumored)
  • Battalion 1944
  • Call of Cthulu
  • Call of Duty: World War II
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • The Crew 2
  • Darksiders III
  • Days Gone
  • Destiny 2
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • Dirt 4
  • Dragon Quest XI
  • FIFA 18
  • Final Fantasy VII (Remaster)
  • F1 2017
  • God of War
  • GT Sport
  • Insurgency: Sandstorm
  • Kingdom Hearts III
  • Madden NFL 18
  • Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite
  • Micro Machines
  • Middle-earth: Shadow of War
  • NBA Live 18
  • Need for Speed: Payback
  • Project Cars 2
  • Star Wars: Battlefront II
  • Sonic Forces
  • South Park: The Fractured But Whole
  • Spider-Man
  • Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
  • Vampyr

Locally Sony kick off with their Days of Play sale with a bunch of savings on Sony Hardware including:

  • PS4 Pro + Horizon Zero Dawn for $560AUD
  • PSVR Headset + PS Worlds $550AUD

Also with Sony, No doubt to build hype for Battlefront 2, if you have never had a PS+ subscription this month if you sign up you will get a copy of Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition for free which includes the full game + all subsequent expansion packs (including Rogue One expansion). Add to this 30% off PS+ Subscriptions this month with the

Playstation Days of Play sale and this is a pretty good deal

Later this month, but expect to hear about it as part of the E3 conference, Sony will be releasing limited edition metallic Gold and Silver edition PS4s. The 500GB editions will be available in stores on the 28th of June.

Expect to see a lot of online sales on the Playstation timed with their conference, right now you can get up to 60% off Fallout 4 season passes for PS4.

6. Nintendo

Official E3 Site | Wednesday, June 14, 2:00 a.m. AEST, watch it via YouTube

Nintendo is sitting on top of the world right now with the Nintendo Switch success so expect them to talk about it this year. We are expecting the brief to be much shorter than the likes of Sony or Microsoft with it labelled as part of it’s Nintendo Treehouse (which is scheduled 3 times during E3 @ 3:00 a.m. AEST on the Thursday and Friday).

One of the biggest attractions for attendees at the gaming event will be the opportunity to get a hands-on look at Nintendo’s long-awaited successor to the beloved open-world Super Mario games, Super Mario Odyssey for the

Nintendo Switch. We are also expecting a more details look on Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, the unusual-looking crossover between Nintendo’s Mario + Luigi RPG games and Ubisoft’s Raving Rabbids franchise.

There should be some time spent on the upcoming indie developer titles planned for the Switch so also look forward to that.

Expect to see:

  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
  • ARMS
  • Splatoon 2
  • Pokkén Tournament DX
  • Sonic Mania
  • Sonic Forces
  • Monopoly for the Nintendo Switch
  • NAMCO Museum
  • Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition
  • Payday 2
  • Monster Hunter Stories 3DS
  • Culdcept Revolt 3DS
  • Miitopia 3DS
  • Kirby Blow Out Bash 3DS

Nintendo is also holding eSports finals for a number of games at E3 which will be watchable via Twitch:

  • 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational, Wednesday, June 14, from 7:30 a.m AEST
  • Pokkén Tournament DX Invitational, Thursday, June 15, from 3:30 a.m AEST
  • 2017 ARMS Open Invitational (E3 limited), Thursday, June 15, from 8:30 a.m AEST

With ARMS the competition will be limited to pro players vs those at E3 who top the bracket. With this being the first E3 open to the public this translates into the more of an SDCC type vibe with a lot more events on the floor and being streamed live.
